R21-0505.01 Cara Meeker x2044 HJR21-1006 HOUSE SPONSORSHIP Weissman, SENATE SPONSORSHIP Hansen, House Committees Senate Committees HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 21-1006 101 CONCERNING THE RESCISSION OF ALL PREVIOUS REQUESTS BY THE 102 COLORADO GENERAL ASSEMBLY OR EITHER HOUSE THEREOF 103 FOR A CONVENTION UNDER ARTICLE V OF THE UNITED STATES 104 CONSTITUTION. 1 WHEREAS, The Colorado General Assembly has made 2 applications to the United States Congress to call one or more 3 conventions to propose amendments concerning specific subjects to the 4 United States Constitution, pursuant to Article V thereof; and 5 WHEREAS, There has not been an Article V joint application 6 made by the Colorado General Assembly in over 25 years, and since that 7 time Colorado has nearly doubled in population and our laws and 8 resolutions should keep pace with progress in our state; now, therefore, Shading denotes HOUSE amendment. Double underlining denotes SENATE amendment. Capital letters or bold & italic numbers indicate new material to be added to existing statute. Dashes through the words indicate deletions from existing statute. 1 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Seventy-third 2 General Assembly of the State of Colorado, the Senate concurring herein: 3 That all resolutions, memorials, or other enactments previously 4 passed by the Colorado General Assembly or either house thereof 5 petitioning Congress for a convention under Article V of the United 6 States Constitution shall be rescinded, cancelled, voided, nullified, and 7 superseded upon passage of this resolution. 8 Be It Further Resolved, That copies of this Joint Resolution be 9 sent, within 30 days of passage, to the Clerk of the United States House 10 of Representatives, the Secretary of the United States Senate, and each 11 member of the Colorado Congressional delegation. 12 Be It Further Resolved, That the members of the Colorado General 13 Assembly request that this Joint Resolution be published in the 14 Congressional Record and listed in the official tally of state legislative 15 applications relating to calling for the United States Congress to call a 16 convention to propose amendments to the United States Constitution. -2- HJR21-1006.
