Our year-round programme has grown out of the Aldeburgh Festival, founded in 1948 by Benjamin Britten, Peter Pears and Eric Crozier, and is the realisation of Britten’s vision for a special place where established stars, young artists, amateurs and audience members come to broaden their horizons in an exhilarating creative and natural environment. Aldeburgh Music’s campus is centred on the iconic Snape Maltings Concert Hall and the organisation programmes more than 150 events per year including the Aldeburgh Festival in June, Snape Proms in August and Autumn and Spring seasons. Our artist development work includes the Britten–Pears Young Artist Programme for the world’s best emerging professional musicians; the life- changing programme for outstanding 8-18 year olds, Aldeburgh Young Musicians; Aldeburgh Residencies and Open Space Residencies, which give artists and ensembles the chance to take time out to develop new work; and the Jerwood Opera Writing Programme, a unique course for composers and writers. Meanwhile Aldeburgh Education runs a variety of programmes from Group A children’s choir in Lowestoft to the international mass-participation singing project, Friday Afternoons. About the Digital Media Internship Aldeburgh Music’s creative engine is its work throughout the year nurturing artists and facilitating the development of new work – through residencies, courses and masterclasses. Each artist residency has an Open Session, which gives audiences a chance to get a glimpse of projects in development and an insight into our work behind the scenes. The focus of the Digital Media Internship is to help communicate this aspect of Aldeburgh Music’s work through capturing and editing together video footage from these Open Sessions into short packages to be published on Aldeburgh Music’s YouTube channel and/or via media partners and to form the basis of an online archive of Aldeburgh Music’s work. Aldeburgh Music has recently invested in its capacity to produce high- quality video as a key part of our communications work and has employed a Digital Manager with specialist video skills. The Digital Media Intern will be trained and supported by the Digital Manager and will finish the internship with broad experience of working in the arts and with a portfolio demonstrating skills in filming, video editing, storytelling and narrative. Aldeburgh Music captures a high volume of video, audio and photography and the Digital Media Intern will also support the efficient archiving and logging of these materials. In addition, over the next 6 months Aldeburgh Music is undertaking a major project to create a unified website for Snape Maltings and Aldeburgh Music and migrate from an existing CRM (customer relationship management) system to a new one. The Digital Media Intern will assist with preparations for the CRM migration, including working on cleaning data on the existing database. Training will be provided in all areas of the job. .
