Stogursey Parish Council

STOGURSEY PARISH COUNCIL Chairman: Chris Morgan Clerk: Richard Wand 14 Town Close, Stogursey Mulberry Cottage Bridgwater TA5 1RN 8, Church Street, CANNINGTON TA5 2HA Tel: 01278 734887 Tel: 01278 652534 [email protected] [email protected] September 22nd 2020 Somerset West and Taunton Council Planning and Transport Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations Part 2(5) Following a formal resolution to write a Neighbourhood Plan, passed by Stogursey Parish Council at its Parish Council Meeting on 12 February 2020, I now submit a request to register the Parish Council’s intention and declare the Parish of Stogursey a designated Neighbourhood Development Plan Area to be approved by Somerset West and Taunton District Council. Stogursey Parish Council wishes to make an application under the Neighbourhood Planning (General) (2012) Regulations. Stogursey Parish Council is a ‘relevant body’ as defined by Section 61G of the Town and County Planning Act 1990 being the parish council for the whole area being applied for. I attach a map showing the extent of the Parish, which constitutes the entire Parish of Stogursey and includes the village of Stolford, and the hamlets of Burton, Shurton and Wick. Stogursey has a population of 1385 (2011 census), two public houses, two shops, a garage, and a car salesroom. The entire Parish is considered to be the appropriate designated area because it is a well-recognised and properly constituted area, entirely within the remit of the Parish Council and was the area used for the Stogursey Parish Plan in 2010 which was accepted and referenced by both West Somerset Council and the County Council. The Parish Council intends to prepare itself to be able to take advantage of the Community Rights as laid down in the Localism Act 2011 as governed by Part 2/Section 5 of the 2012 Regulations, and to ensure that it has a significant voice in any decision concerning planning and other issues related to its local circumstances. We also understand that the completion of a Neighbourhood Plan and a successful outcome to the ensuing referendum will ensure that statutory bodies will be able to be clear about what the local community wants for its future development and that Stogursey Parish Council will be in a position to evidence any comments or concerns it may have over any issue. Yours sincerely Chris Morgan Chairman, Stogursey Parish Council .
