vegetables and cereals, fresh and processed ITALIA Associazione Italiana Consorzi Indicazioni Geografiche The Costa d’Amalfi PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) lemon, typical of Mediterranean basin, but especially of the Amalfi coast, has distinguishing olfactory notes and the essential oils of the peel liven up an unmistakable bouquet; appearance: tapered shape (from which the word “sfusato”), big and sharpened umbo; the pulp is juicy and mildly sour; nearly pipless; smooth-verrucous peel of medium thickness, of citrine yellow colour, rich in essential oil, aroma and strong fragrance; weight: not less than 100 gr; juice: plentiful (yield equal or more than 25%) and with high sourness (not less than 3,5 gr/100 ml); polp colour: straw-yellow; PRODUCT aroma: intense and strong fragrance; stagione: harvest takes place different times a year, even if the most valuable production is obtained in spring-summer time between March and end of July. The production area of The Costa d’Amalfi PGI Lemon includes the whole territory of he Commune of Atrani and part of territory of the Commune of Amalfi, Cetara, Conca dei Marini, Furore, Maiori, Minori, Positano, Praiano, Ravello, Scala, Tramonti and Vietri sul Mare, all in province of Salerno. ITALIA CAMPANIA Napoli Roma Napoli PRODUCTION ZONE The graphic symbol consists of a lemon with leaves which is placed on the left side of a double circle which in- cludes the black coloured inscription Costa d’Amalfi Limone IGP on a yellow background. Inside the double circle there is the coast outline, from Maiori to Capo Conca, while, in foreground there is a tussock of Mediterranean bush. The lemon and the background are yellow, while the lemon leaves, the bush and the second front of hills are green MARK coloureed, the sea is blue and the sky is azure.
