It has been some time since I last wrote to you announcing the early retirement of our headteacher, Christine Edmunds and wanted to provide you with an update. Following a rigorous selection and interview process involving a strong group of candidates, albeit approached in an innovative and creative manner due to the current circumstances, I am delighted to announce the appointment of Ms Kendra Collier as our new Head. Ms. Collier will take up the post in September 2020 after Mrs. Edmunds’ retirement at the end of this academic year. The appointment panel (which included members of the Yare Educational Trust senior leadership team) were highly impressed by Ms. Collier ‘s enthusiasm, keenness to lead a rural primary school and ideas on the direction she wants to take the school .This led to a unanimous decision to offer her the role. Ms. Collier is currently an experienced Head of a School based in Spain having previously had leadership roles locally at St Mary’s Junior School, Long Stratton. The panel feels that Ms. Collier possesses the right skills and experience to lead the school community and to further develop and improve our school, building on the strong foundations laid by Mrs Edmunds. Ms. Collier is very much looking forward to joining the school and meeting the children, staff and parents. I am sure you will support Mrs Edmunds and me in ensuring as smooth a handover as possible.
