HORIZON PROGRAMME The HORIZON destroyer has an overall length of 150,60 metres, a breadth of more than 20 and a full‐load displacement of approximately 7050 tons. It can accommodate a crew of 220. During the design phase particular attention was paid to the ship topside arrangement due to the high number of combat system subsystems to be installed on board and the reduction of the ship signatures. The propulsion system, of Combined Diesel or Gas type, The HORIZON comprises two 20.5 megawatts gas turbine, type LM 2500 and PROGRAMME is a two Diesel engines, each one with a maximum power of 4.3 megawatts. The continuous maximum speed is over 29 kts at full‐ French-Italian load displacement. The PAAMS AAW capabilities are enhanced by the Long Range Radar able to cue EMPAR in order to allow, utilising the bi‐missile Sylver A50 VLS and Aster 30 SAM missiles, engagement at Medium Range. Another important contribution to the AAW is given by the RAN 30X Surface Surveillance Radar, the ILDS, Inner Layer Defence System, which makes use of NA25 Fire Control Systems and Super Rapid 76/62 guns. The contribution to the AWW, Above Water Warfare, is Caio Duilio of the Italian Navy completed by Infra Red Sensors, two 25 mm machine guns, EW capabilities including ESM, ECM and Decoy Launchers, Communications including Satellite and Multiple Tactical Data Links and Navigation System.
