COMPETITIONS THAT PERMIT the USE of Dr. COOK's BITLESS

Updated 24 January 2004 COMPETITIONS THAT PERMIT THE USE OF Dr. COOK’S BITLESS BRIDLE AND IN WHICH HORSES CAN ALSO COMPETE BAREFOOT This information has been kindly provided by Jasmine Cave, who, in January 2004, searched the saddlery sections of all the following online rulebooks to see what each had to say about competing bitless &/or barefoot. The rulebooks state either that bitless bridles are allowed, or this is implied by omission in that there were no rules at all about bridles. The rulebooks infer that the term ‘bitless bridle’ refers to the traditional designs in this class; the hackamores, bosals and sidepulls. As yet, none of the rulebooks refer specifically to Dr. Cook’s Bitless Bridle but it is reasonable to assume that this bridle would be acceptable under the generic banner of ‘bitless bridle.’ Competitors are encouraged to review the rulebooks for future rule changes. It is always wise to check in advance with the stewards of the particular competition that any competitor is contemplating entering.
