The 2020 tournament was originally scheduled to be played in Charlotte before the COVID-19 pandemic forced cancellation of last year’s event. The ACC Baseball Championship was held in the Queen City region twice previously, when Fort Mill, S.C., welcomed the tournament in 2000 and 2001. Stadium capacity at Truist Field is 10,200, How It Works 2021 ACC Baseball Championship - May 25-30 The Championship will feature a pool-play format, leading into a four-team, single-elimination bracket to determine the league champion. The Fighting Irish will be joined by eighth-seeded Virginia and Truist Field; Charlotte, North Carolina 12th-seeded Virginia Tech. Pool B features No. 2 Georgia Tech, along with No. 7 Louisville and No. 11 Clemson. No. 3 NC State is joined in Pool C by No. 6 North Carolina and No. 10 Pitt, while Pool Tuesday, May 25 D features No. 4 Miami, No. 5 Florida State and No. 9 Duke. Each team in the four pools will play No. 7 Louisville vs. No. 11 Clemson, 11 a.m. (RSN/ACCN Extra) one game against each of the other two opponents in its pool Tuesday through Friday. The four No. 8 Virginia vs. No. 12 Virginia Tech, 3 p.m. (RSN/ACCN Extra) teams with the best records within their respective pools will advance to Saturday’s semifi nals, No. 6 North Carolina vs. No. 10 Pitt, 7 p.m. (RSN/ACCN Extra) with the winners playing on Sunday in the ACC Championship Game. Florida No. 1 Notre Dame vs. No. 12 Virginia Tech, 3 p.m. (RSN/ACCN Extra) State sophomore catcher Matheu Nelson has been voted the ACC Player of the Year by the league’s No. 2 Georgia Tech vs. No. 11 Clemson, 7 p.m. (RSN/ACCN Extra) head coaches, while Seminoles’ left-hander Parker Messick was selected as both the ACC Pitcher and Freshman of the Year. Boston College outfi elder Sal Frelick was selected the ACC Defensive Thursday, May 27 Player of the Year, and Notre Dame’s Link Jarrett was recognized by his peers as the ACC Coach No. 4 Miami vs. No. 9 Duke, 11 a.m. (RSN/ACCN Extra) of the Year. The Irish were a model of consistency under Jarrett this season, ending the regular season with the best fi elding percentage in the country with just Sunday, May 30 21 errors in 39 games (0.986).
