A very good lot. (12) 250 Ex Lot 1857 1857 PS B 1895 1d blue postal card with advertising for Havelock Tobacco and Foster's Beer local commercial usage at Melbourne on NO20/95, bumped corners; plus an unused example with minor soiling. [The infamous 'Beer n Baccy' card was issued 1.11.1895 but caused such a public outcry, especially from the Temperance Movement, that all stocks were withdrawn on 19.11.1895. A lovely 'Niven'. [The Coffee House Movement originated in Scotland. The aim was to provide hotel accommodation without the lure of liquor. By 1888 there were more than 50 of these temperance establishments in Melbourne alone] 100 Lot 1864 1864 CB 1910 (c.) real photo with Kodak back of an impressive derailment of a railway locomotive & passenger carriages with numerous bystanders (passengers?), diagonal crease at left doesn't greatly detract, unused.
