(12) 250 Ex Lot 1857 1857 PS B 1895 1d blue postal card with advertising for Havelock Tobacco and Foster's Beer local commercial usage at Melbourne on NO20/95, bumped corners; plus an unused example with minor soiling. [The infamous 'Beer n Baccy' card was issued 1.11.1895 but caused such a public outcry, especially from the Temperance Movement, that all stocks were withdrawn on 19.11.1895. A lovely 'Niven'. [The Coffee House Movement originated in Scotland. The aim was to provide hotel accommodation without the lure of liquor.
