Hosted their AGM on April 20th where it was agreed by vote to change their name from Chamber of Tourism & Commerce, back to Chamber of Commerce. Will be hosting their next meet and greet at the new June Motel this spring – date TBA. John Puddy – PECAC Marketing Committee See below media release for The Jazz Festival. Angel McMurray – County Holiday Homes Recently hired a new guest services manager and is now looking to hire multiple house-keepers for their rental properties. Carolin Boysen – Twin Birch/WDBA/Wellington Community Gardens Saw lots families come through for the Family Day event at the Wellington Arena. Supporting the new community gardens in Wellington – opportunities to volunteer and garden are available. Ashley Stewart – CDD / Destination Marketing Arts/Taste Trail 2017-18 guide is printed (60,000 copies) and distribution starts at the end of the month. Maple in The County was a great success and we collected feedback from almost 300 participants through a contest to win a year’s supply of maple syrup. Countylicious wraps up this weekend. Lure Piece is complete and will be in the June LCBO Food & Drink magazine distribution along with major news publications in Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. The County had a booth presence at County in the City last week, and will be at County in the Capital April 20th. Judith Burfoot – Picton BIA Canada Day plans are coming together – anyone interested in getting involved as a business or volunteer should contact Judith. Picton has more OPP officers ‘on the beat’ and working to be a feature of the community. Continuing to run their adopt-a-spot program with hopes to build community and engagement. Looking for gardening support in the downtown from interested volunteers. Julianne Snepsts – Festival Players/Taste That!/Comedy Country Festival Players is looking to hire two roles: http://festivalplayers.ca/about- festival-players/employment-opportunities Announcing the full season for Festival Players on May 8th – stay tuned for some winter features this year as well! Comedy Country will take place again this fall – details TBA. Taste That! Has set their show dates for the year including their show this weekend Bye Bye Bargie. Taste That! This year marks the 100th anniversary of the first jazz recording - Livery Stable Blues by the Original Dixieland Jass Band. And what a year 1917 was for important birthdays: Ella, Dizzy, Thelonius, and Buddy. We’ll raise a glass of County wine to them all, and to a lot more who played influential roles in the development of jazz over the last century. Something new this year: For the first time, we’re presenting a “Featured Artist” for the entire week. We think violinist Drew Jerecka will be a big hit. Jerecka, who acknowledges the profound influence of the great Stephane Grappelli, is an alumnus of Jeff Healey’s Jazz Wizards, and will perform in a variety of concerts and jam sessions. To the delight of our audiences, this week-long ‘Wine County’ jazz affair is Canada’s only all-jazz-all-the-time gathering. And we pay as we go. No government financial help in a quieter part of Ontario with no anchoring big city nearby. And it’s all because we have what must be the most loyal and generous group of sponsors a festival could ever hope for. And once again, unique among jazz festivals, our Rising Young Star award winner will play with the very best musicians on our main stage through the week.
