The programme entails investments in wastewater infrastructure (wastewater treatment plants, sewerage network and collectors) in selected Serbian municipalities. The municipalities were selected in a transparent competitive procedure. Currently, the following municipalities are foreseen for the programme: Jagodina, Kikinda, Pirot, Pozarevac, Vrsac, Trstenik, Smederevo and Pancevo. The location of the municipalities can be verified in the below map. All municipalities are located close to rivers joining the Danube. The programme entails the construction of new wastewater treatment plants (in Pirot, Trstenik, Pozarevac, Pancevo, Smederevo) and the rehabilitation/ extension to EU standards of existing wastewater treatment plants (in Jagodina, Vrsac, Kikinda). In addition, investments in the network foresee rehabilitation/ replacement of collectors, construction/ extension of wastewater transmission mains, and new sewage systems.
