Professor Finally Manages to End Her Life

MEDIA Professor finally manages to end her life Professor Henry (81) finally managed to have the peaceful death she wanted at her home in Brampford Speke, Exeter. She managed this despite four days of harassment by the authorities intent of denying her this legal option. Dr Henry (81) a member of Exit International had been accepted in Switzerland for an assisted suicide, but wanted to end her life in her home of many years in Brampford Speke. To enable this she sought to import he best euthanasia drug Nembutal from Mexico. Her purchase was intercepted by Manchester Interpol and on Saturday night Exeter police were sent around to check on her “well-being”. Professor Henry’s door was broken down and she was subjected to hours of interrogation by police, and then by mental health authorities. Police left taking with them what they believed was the imported Nembutal. In a letter to Exit International Director Dr Philip Nitschke, send shortly before her death, she talked of her anxiety that there would be further police raids, and that she might lose her remaining drug. Dr Nitschke said he was pleased that she had been able to get the peace she so desperately wanted, but that he was angry that the insensitive actions by police and mental health authorities had turned Avril Henry’s last days into a nightmare. “Police need to realise that in the UK, suicide is not a crime, and mental health authorities need to recognise that not everyone who seeks to end their life is in need of psychiatric intervention. Avril’s death was a clear case of “rational suicide”, and her decision to die at her own time and in her own place should have been respected. As it is the authorities did everything they could to make her last days on this earth a misery.” Dr Nitschke said that in light of events in Exeter, Exit International would be contacting its 1000+ UK members warning them of Interpol’s growing interest in stemming the flow of the euthanasia drug Nembutal into the UK, and the implications of this for our members.
