Co-financing for this project was identified firstly from the active portfolio of projects financed (or in preparation) by the African Development Bank and secondly from ongoing initiatives in the area by various other institutions whose interventions contribute to improving the quality of Lake Kivu's water. Thus, for component 1, AfDB support to EGB, which hosts the executive secretariat of ABAKIR (Elaboration of the Regional Programme for the Integrated Development of the Ruzizi Plain - PREDIR), and especially that of the GIZ within the framework of the Regional Project Support to the Integrated Management of Water Resources of Lake Kivu and Ruzizi River, are the main sources of co-financing estimated at about 6,500,000 USD. These will be parallel co-financing in kind or grants. For Component 2, the main source of co-financing will come from the Lake Kivu Monitoring Programme (LKMP) led by the Rwanda Energy Group (REG)/ Energy Development Corporation Limited (EDCL) through the corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds from private companies such as ContourGlobal and Gasmeth Energy that are expected to contribute funds to the water resources monitoring programme, especially the operation and maintenance of water quality laboratories for the LKMP. The AfDB also has various ongoing investment projects in the lake Kivu basin, notably the Water Supply and Sanitation Program in Rwanda (Implemented by WASAC). The co-financing for this component is estimated at more than US$ 7,300,000. For component 3, a number of projects identified within the framework of https://gefportal2.worldbank.org 7/69 5/5/2020 WbgGefportal PREDIR and which are the subject of catalytic financing research, in particular with AWF and NDF, will serve as co-financing. This co-financing is estimated at more than 10,200,000 USD. Co-financing for Component 4 will be mobilized mainly from the AfDB Evaluation Unit and the GIZ. With regard to the project management of the project, the AfDB (including AWF) will provide the co-financing necessary for the implementation of the project. The exact and confirmed figures will be determined and confirmed at PPG stage by the time the GEF CEO Endorsement documentation is submitted. https://gefportal2.worldbank.org 8/69 5/5/2020 WbgGefportal D.
