UNGA UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY EVENT LISTINGS AS OF SEPTEMBER 29, 2020 As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA75) will take place virtually with events over a span of approximately three weeks. Each year the UN Foundation helps you navigate the busy calendar, and our Guide to UNGA75 contains information and links for a range of events, from key UN moments and summits, to our own convenings, and those of many different partners. All times listed are U.S. Eastern Time, unless otherwise specified. Please note we can’t provide or guarantee invitations to any of these events, and inclusion does not signal endorsement. A virtual series of events to address how to adapt capital market systems to mobilize finance to achieve SDGs within a 1.5° limit. A platform for young people to discuss pressing issues such as the future of education and work, climate action and sustainable living, mental health and wellbeing, equality and inclusion, and more. More info SEPT 28 - 29 UNDP Nature for Life Hub ALL DAY Hosted by UNDP and other UN, private sector and stakeholder partners including the UN Foundation. The 4-day program will feature events about protecting the planet, focused around themes such as the SDGs and nature, business and finance, and local and indigenous action. The event brings together stakeholders to discuss strengthening account- ability for women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health and rights. More info SEPT 29 High-level Meeting on Financing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM Development in the Era of COVID-19 and Beyond Hosted by Secretary-General António Guterres and the Prime Ministers of Canada and Jamaica. Participants will articulate a coordinated and comprehensive multilateral response to the urgent financing for development crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The launch will be followed by a panel discussion with speakers from WISE, Salzburg Global Seminar, and other e-book contributors. The event will highlight progress made on tackling gender-based violence during COVID-19, activate the UN Secretary-General engagement strategy on ending violence against women and profile the Action Coalition on Gender-Based Violence. The event will focus on the aim to achieve carbon-free operations by 2030 and how this raises the bar for corporate commitments. The panel will discuss the global hunt for a COVID-19 vaccine, and treatments to lower mortality rates. A discussion on how to use artificial intelligence and bioin- formatics to find and repurpose candidate drugs for treating COVID-19. The event will showcase how islands can drive commit- ment to the SDGs and climate action in COVID-19 response and recovery. More info SEPT 30 Accelerating the End of the COVID-19 Pandemic: Taking New Solutions 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM to Scale and Making Them Equitably Accessible, to Save Lives, Protect Health Systems and Restart the Global Economy Hosted by Secretary-General António Guterres, the United Kingdom, South Africa and the World Health Organization. The event will showcase the progress and global collaboration to ensure equitable access to new COVID-19 diagnostics, therapeutics and vaccines through the Access to COVID-19 Tools Accelerator and its COVAX Global Vaccines Facility.
