While the bridge form considers the overall shape of the bridge and is the most fundamental part of the design, the other parts can be enhanced with features and/or artwork that represent the desired theme of the community. BRIDGE FORM ORNAMENTAL RAILINGS LANDSCAPED DECK, SEATING, RIVER VIEWING ARCHITECTURAL WALL SURFACES GATEWAYS PATHWAY LIGHTING ARTISTIC MURALS The Natural, Native American, and Historic themes represent desires expressed by the community at NSC charrettes. The photos in each theme represent the PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE: THEME OPTIONS look and feel of potential concepts that emerge from the theme. NATURAL THEME NATIVE AMERICAN THEME HISTORIC THEME The Natural Theme is inspired by the Spokane River and surrounding wildlife. Bridge The Chief Garry Theme is inspired by the history of Chief Garry and the The Historic Theme is inspired by 1) historical activities that have (or still do) occur in concepts under this theme may include: Spokane Tribe. Bridge concepts under this theme may include: adjacent neighborhoods and 2) existing bridges in Spokane that have set a precedent • Focus on experiential use of the bridge and surrounding area • Inclusion of artistic details that celebrate Spokane Tribal culture and Chief Garry for design, especially over the river. These concepts emerged from charrette comments that mentioned general history of the area as well as specific activities.
