These include the following: Accommodation – these links detail accommodation options provided by universities. They may also be able to offer advice about off-campus renting. Careers – all DTA institutions have Careers Centres that offer one-to-one careers guidance, support with CVs, mock interviews and careers fairs with business and industry representatives. Many also offer support for students starting their own businesses. Mental Health and Wellbeing - DTA universities offer a range of services and resources to support your wellbeing and respond to mental health difficulties. These include online resources, drop-in and bookable counselling sessions, self-guided therapy, mental health apps, self-assessments, workshops and helplines. PGR-specific support - your university may have a doctoral college or graduate school equipped to provide support and services specifically for PhD researchers. These may be your best point of call for any issues related to academic and pastoral needs, and they may also provide further career development opportunities tailored to doctoral researchers. Student Services – DTA universities provide a range of support to all students, which may include mental health and wellbeing support, counselling, financial advice, disability and dyslexia support, and more. Student Union – as a postgraduate student, you are automatically part of your university’s Student Union (SU). These are organisations aligned with universities, run for students and which aim to support a range of student interests. While postgraduate research concerns may not seem to be the primary focus of your Student Union, by collaborating with them and feeding on concerns, they will be able to better lobby on your behalf to your university. They can also support your PhD experience by offering a range of services which often include: • extracurricular activities (sports and societies) • volunteering opportunities • support for LGBT+ students • opportunities to get involved in political campaigning • advice services (wellbeing, housing, finance) • representation and lobbying on your behalf to your university Please note that the directory may not exhaustively list all services available at your university, but it should signpost you in the right direction for the support you are looking for.
