Students might also have the opportunity to observe us interacting with alumni, students, and fellow colleagues. Alumni Engagement is an interesting career because every day is different and you interact with a number of different constituents. Students will gain cross-cultural competency skills. Externship Host #3: Nicole Crossey, Law Student, Drexel University Widener University Alumnus and Former History, Political Science, and International Relations Major Externship Description: Students will have the opportunity to attend upper-level classes, tour the campus, learn about what law school is like for a first-year student, and meet current students. Students should attend this informational interview with 4-7 questions about Rachel and her work. Due to the sensitive and confidential nature of Rachel’s work students will not be able to shadow her inside of the medical facility. Externship Host #5: Allison (Ally) Roelofs, Editor, Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, INC Widener University Alumnus and Former English Major Externship Description: While there are some limitations regarding proprietary information that I will be unable to share with any student who would like to come to SEL, they can observe my daily practices and my interactions with my subject matter experts and interact with them themselves, and they will have the opportunity to meet and interact with my peer who joined a little over a year ago. The student will also learn about the software I use, information flow and control, schedule management, edit implementation, content review, and team dynamics. I will also show the student the products we manage and the related software programs that are developed wholly by SEL between collaborating country-wide teams. The student might also have the chance to attend any meetings that occur during their externship. I will also acquaint the student with the origin and history of the company. See what it’s like behind the scenes of the CBS affiliate in the 43rd market of the United States. Meet and interact with people who work in front of the camera and behind it. Externs will take empty slate and create a newscast during this shadow experience. During said newscast you could sit in the control room or in the studio. You will experience putting together at least 2-3 shows in one day! Location: WHP CBS21 NEWS- 3300 N 6th St, Harrisburg, PA 17110 Length of Externship: 1-2 days Spots Available: 6 (2 per day) Clearances and Special Instructions: Must complete CBS Release Form Host’s Availability (if you are not available when the host is available DO NOT rank this externship on the application): ONLY available on Wednesday, Thursdays, and Fridays between December 17, 2018- January 11, 2018.
