Kevin Boyle earned the win for the San Diego, stopping 34 11/27 @SD 3-2 OTW of the 37 shots he faced. 11/29 BAK 3-4 L 12/6 @ONT 9-2 W 12/7 @ONT 4-5 SOL Meloche Moves Up: On Tuesday, the Sharks recalled defenseman Nicolas Meloche from the 12/11 BAK 6-2 W Barracuda, the first NHL recall of his career and first since he was acquired from the Avalanche in 12/14 STK 2-3 L 12/15 @STK 2-5 L September for goaltender Antoine Bibeau. So far with the Barracuda this season, the 22-year-old has 12/18 ONT 3-4 L appeared in 38 games, collecting six assists and 30 PIM. In addition, the organization assigned veteran 12/20 @SD 4-2 W blueliner Dalton Prout to the Barracuda for a two-week conditioning stint. 12/27 STK 1-8 L 12/29 BAK 5-7 L 12/31 @STK 0-4 L Carrick Cookin’: Barracuda defenseman Trevor Carrick potted a pair of goals on Monday and finished 1/3 @TUC 1-5 L for the second-straight game with a +3 rating. Carrick now ranks third in the AHL in goals (10) among 1/4 @TUC 5-4 OTW 1/8 ONT 9-0 W defensemen and first in game-winning goals (4). Then, on 1/22 @BAK 0-5 L Monday, he netted a goal and an assist in a 6-3 win over Tucson. On Saturday, he collected an assist 1/25 ONT 1-3 L 1/31 @SD 3-5 L and now leads the team in points (33) and assists (22). In addition, he is tied for first in power-play 2/5 SD 2-4 L goals (4). Among AHL rookies, Blichfeld is 14th in points. 2/23 @ONT 2/26 ONT El Jefe: Jeff Viel collected the first two-goal, three-point game of his career on Monday and scored 2/29 SD 3/2 IA again on Saturday, matching his rookie-season goal totals in 22 fewer games. Viel leads the Barracuda 3/4 IA in penalty minutes (90) and majors (6). 3/6 SD 3/7 SD 3/10 @STK Home-Sweet-Home: The San Jose City Council unanimously approved a 200,000 sQuare-foot expansion 3/13 @SD of Solar4America Ice at San Jose on January 28th, which will add two additional recreational ice sheets 3/14 @ONT to the facility, increasing the building’s total ice sheets to six. The expansion will make S4A Ice at San 3/17 COL 3/21 @BAK Jose the largest ice facility under one roof west of the Mississippi River.
