FRESHMEN DANCE TAP DANCE BIOGRAPHY GUIDELINES “From community productions to the big screen, tap dance has captured the hearts of millions of Americans, and this is most evident in the fan base supporting the careers of several influential tappers.” Choose one of the following famous tappers to research: Gene Kelly Savion Glover Gregory Hines Fred Astaire Bill Robinson Doris Day Sammy Davis Jr. James Brown Ginger Rogers You are to research the dancer of your choice by using at least ONE (1) reading source and at ​ ​ least ONE to TWO (1-2) video sources. These sources must be cited at the end of your paper ​ ​ using MLA format. (10 pts) Please include the following in your paper: ● An introduction paragraph introducing the person you chose and why you chose him/her. (10 ​ ​ pts) ● A brief history of their personal life. What shaped them into being a dancer? (15 pts) ● A history of their career in dance and tap, specifically, and what made this person famous, and their major accomplishments. Be specific! (25 pts) ● A response to the videos you watch on this person. Describe each video individually - the dancing, the music (if any), the costuming/props, the emotions/expressions, and whether each component related to or detracted from the dancing. (25 pts) ● A conclusion paragraph explaining what you learned from this person, the impact (if any) he/she had on your ideas of tap dance, and how this person has influenced dance.
