CHURCH SANT’ ANDREA AL QUIRINALE Via di Quirinale, 29 Church designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini along with one of his students, Giovanni De Rossi. It is home of the Jesuit novitiate, built between 1658 and 1678 and dedicated to St. Andrew. Curiously, near this church is the church of San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane, also called "San Carlino", by Francesco Borromini and Bernini's rival. 1. FAÇADE: Completed between 1670 and 71, stand two columns with Corinthian capitals. Coat of Arms of Prince Camillo Francesco Maria Pamphili (or Pamphilj) in merit of his contribution to the building of this church, the work of Domenico and Lorenzo Dini Basadone. 2. ON THE MAIN ENTRANCE: Two angels hold a banner in which he says that the prince Camillo built the church from its very foundations. There is a lavabo or holy water stoup possibly by Bernini. CEILING: images of Glori di Sant’ Andrea (Glory of St Andrew). THE CHAPEL OF THE CRUCIFIX CRUCIFIX LEFT: Tomb of Carlo Emmanuele IV di Savoia, ( 06-10-1819), by Andrea Testa (1822). He lived in the Jesuit novitiate until his death. 13. Under the altar is the shrine, an urn of bronze and lapislázuli, which is by Pierre Legros (1716).
