Master’s (1986) and doctorate (1993) degrees in Medicine by USP, and he obtained livre-docência at the same University in 1999. Currently, Dr. Covas is a Full ProFessor at the Ribeirão Preto Medical School/USP, President-Director oF the Hemocentro Foundation oF Ribeirão Preto, Coordinator oF the Center For Cell-based Therapy (CTC-CEPID-FAPESP), and president oF the Brazilian Association oF Hematology, Hemotherapy and Cell Therapy (ABHH). He is a hematologist and hemotherapist, and develops research on the Following subjects: molecular and cellular biology, stem cells, erythrocytic and platelet antigens, viruses (HIV and HTLV), protein heterologous expression in cellular systems in vitro. He is Associate Editor oF Revista Brasileira de Hematologia e Hemoterapia, and associate editor oF the journal PLosOne; he was one oF the Founders oF the Escola Brasileira de Hematologia. In addition, Dr. 5 Covas is member oF Academia de Ciências de Ribeirão Preto. He is the coordinator oF the Postgraduate Program on Clinical Oncology, Stem Cells and Cell Therapy oF the FMRP/USP. He has also promoted the dissemination oF science and education, and organized postgraduate programs For teachers and elementary and high school students. He has edited two books, and one oF these was awarded Prêmio Jabuti in 2007. Dr. Covas has published 158 articles in specialized periodicals, 790 works in congresses including complete studies and abstracts, 16 book chapters, and 10 books. He has participated in 231 meetings in Brazil and abroad. His activities as advisor resulted in 22 Master's dissertations, 12 doctorate and 12 post-doctoral theses. In addition, Dr. Covas has advised 7 scientiFic initiation works, and has received 23 awards and/or honors. Currently she is a proFessor at the Ribeirão Preto Medical School oF the University oF São Paulo (FMRP-USP). She is the coordinator and supervisor oF the Unit oF Bone Marrow Transplantation oF the Hospital oF the FMRP-USP and was elected president oF the Brazilian Society oF Bone Marrow Transplantation. She has experience in Medicine, with emphasis on hematology, acute leukemias, bone marrow transplantation, and sickle cell disease. She has published 161 complete studies in journals and congresses and one book. She has participated in 22 scientiFic meetings and supervised 6 master’s dissertations, 1 doctorate thesis and she has received 5 awards. Dr. Donadi was graduated in Medicine by the Ribeirão Preto Medical School (1976), he has received his master’s degree by the Ribeirão Preto Medical School (1982) and his doctorate in Medical Practice by the same institution (1986). He conducted his post-doctoral activities in the Virginia Mason Research Center, in Seattle, in the years oF 1990 and 1991. He concluded his livre-docência in 1997 and currently he is a proFessor at the Division oF Clinical Immunology oF the Department oF Medical Practice oF the Ribeirão Preto Medical School- USP. He has experience in Medicine, in the Field oF Clinical Immunology, by researching, teaching and 6 treating patients with diseases related to immune system disorders, such as autoimmune diseases. His current research lines are related to the study oF the etiopathogenic aspects oF autoimmune diseases, transplantations, neoplastic and inFeccious diseases, Focusing on the evaluations oF diFFerential and particular gene expression oF candidate genes, polymorphisms oF genes involved in innate and acquired immune response, and also association oF genetic polymorphisms with gene expressions. Dr. Donadi has a particular interest in the study oF mechanisms that control the expression oF genes oF the major histocompatibility complex. He supervises postgraduate students in the Programs oF Basic and Applied Immunology and Medical Practice, both in the Ribeirão Preto Medical School oF University oF São Paulo. He has published 268 complete articles in journals, 1 book, 12 book chapters. He has participated in 63 national and international events. Currently, Dr. Rego is Associate ProFessor at University oF São Paulo, and he works in the Field oF Hematology.
