Through strong emphasis on community, empathy, enthusiasm, integrity, leadership, loyalty, resiliency and respect, all members of the Milton Area School District strive to promote: Creativity and Innovation Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Collaboration and Transparency Self-Management and Flexibility Page 5 Page 6 DAILY SCHEDULE The Milton Area High School operates on a semester-based block schedule. Students receive 82 minutes of instruction with 4 minute transitions between blocks (with the exception of block 1, which has 4 additional minutes built in for morning announcements). Students must schedule 8 full blocks of classes, and every student has a 40-minute academic support period in the afternoon. Semester One- Semester Two- September 6 - January 24 January 25 - June 6 Release to Block 1: 7:56am Release to Block 1: 7:56am Block 1: 8:00am – 9:26am Block 1: 8:00am – 9:26am Block 2: 9:30am – 10:52am Block 2: 9:30am – 10:52am Block 3: 10:56am – 12:50pm Block 3: 10:56am – 12:50pm A-Lunch: 10:56 – 11:26 A-Lunch: 10:56 – 11:26 B-Lunch: 11:35 – 12:05 B-Lunch: 11:35 – 12:05 C-Lunch: 12:20 – 12:50 C-Lunch: 12:20 – 12:50 Academic Support Period: 12:54pm – 1:34pm Block 4: 1:38pm – 3:00pm Block 4: 1:38pm – 3:00pm AGENDA PASS Students will no longer be given agendas. All handbooks and agendas will be available electronically. If a student needs to leave the classroom, for any reason, teachers will have a designated pass and a sign-out sheet that students must utilize. Students are not permitted to enter the middle school building at any time unless given a pass from the high school office. This includes prior to the start of the school day. ARRIVAL PROCEDURES In order to insure adequate supervision of students arriving prior to the start of the school day, students are not permitted to enter the high school building before 7:15am. Upon entering the building, students are expected to wait quietly in the cafeteria area and to follow directions of the staff monitor(s). Students may not leave the building after arrival without following proper dismissal procedures. ATHLETIC CODE Athletics and Extra Curricular Activities Afterschool Activities All students are encouraged to participate in after school activities. These activities could include high school athletics and/or high school clubs. Students are reminded that their involvement, either as a participant or a spectator is a privilege. Any student involved in an afterschool activity must be under the supervision of a coach or advisor. Athletics Athletics are an important part of the high school experience.
