Both children and adults are cast in solo roles. Multiple casting ensures that anyone capable of singing a solo role is given an opportunity to do so. Roles of various difficulty are assigned based on the ability and experience of the singer, so that everyone is challenged, but no one is set up to fail. All shows include a chorus, so that less advanced singers also may participate. To the extent possible, the productions are financed through donations and volunteerism. We seek to minimize fees on performers and admission so that financial considerations will not prevent families from participating in a production or attending a performance. www.FamilyOpera.com YOU'RE OUT OF THIS WORLD! 4 53 Frank’s Steak H use Boston’s oldest steak house st 938 2310 ass ve North ambrdge 617-661-0666 52 5 Special Thanks The North Cambridge Family Opera Company is grateful for their many volunteers and benefactors. In particular, we would like to thank the following people and organiza- tions, who may not have been mentioned elsewhere in this program. Rah-y, Our greatest thanks are extended to the King Open School community, which, under the direction of principal Timothy Groves and assistant principal Regina Osborne, has once again opened their arms to welcome us in our ambitious endeavors. Thanks to Dave and Wink Merrill and their family for continuing to provide (almost) rah-y, unlimited storage for our sets during our off-season in their spacious barn. We are also grateful to the Gentle Giant Moving Company for sharing their parking lot with us. We had some extraordinary help with our sets and costumes this year, including that of Jim Peters, who designed some fabulous alien masks; Allan Wechsler, who worked out rah, rah, the alien fonts for the signs in the cantina scene; Sam Katz-Christy, whose LEDs signifi- cantly jazzed up our robots; and Jeff Del Papa, who helped construct the covers for the moveable consoles (check out his other activities at www.the-nerds.org). Retroactive thanks are extended to Beth Altman and Steve Perlmutter for our vintage R2-D2 cos- Rah! tume; and to Roger Frymire for Chewie’s fur and the Jawas’ “bright yellow eyes.” Even though the Ivanovic’s are out of the country for the year, their family has contin- ued to donate Iggy’s bread to our tired and hungry rehearsal participants. Thanks! Translation: Congratulations to Finally, as usual, our seemingly tireless cast and crew have once again gone way be- yond the call of duty to contribute to this exciting production. Thanks to all of you for your work, your friendship, and your financial support. And of course, thanks to George Lucas for the inspiration.
