My Weekend Getaway Hello Folks, Tina here As I mentioned in the last news letter I would fill you in on our trip to Lancaster, PA. So, Duane and I didn’t get to go to Lancaster, we instead went to Amish country in Ohio. We visited the cities of Walnut Creek, Sugar Creek, Berlin & Millersburg. We went on a horse and buggy ride at Yoder's Country Home around on the farm with a Amish man guiding the horse. Sugar creek, is also known as of Little Switzerland Ohio and has the worlds largest cuckoo clock. There are many shops in this town within walking distance . one of the stores we like to visit is Heini’s Cheese Chalet . it is a store with many different kinds of cheeses among many different beef sticks, spreads and jel- ly's . if you are a cheese lover then Heini's cheese chalet Is the place for you. Walk through and enjoy all the samples of cheese’s , buy a few. If you do not like or can not eat cheese, then go to one of the other shops that are located under the same building Then after your done with all the sigh seeing jump back into the car and drive to Orville Ohio where you find JM Smuckers CO Store & Café , the home of smuckers jelly, jams and preserves There are many different types to choose from , walk through and see what they have. Sit at the café and enjoy a snack.. An important things to do especially in the warm weather is to take a cooler with ice that way any purchases made can be put in the cooler and also fill it with bottles of water for yourself to stay hydrated.. hope you enjoyed our little venture through Amish country Weird Laws from Around the Globe Hey guys, lil Honeybee is here with another article, this one is about weird laws from around the world. Our first weird law is from New Jersey. It is against the law to wear a bulletproof vest while committing a crime. Chances are if you are going to break the law, that the bulletproof vest thing won’t bother you. In Finland, if you are pulled over for speeding, your fine is determined by your income. If you drive a really fancy car, be ready to pay big time for being a lead foot. In England, it is against the law to die in the house of parliament. The reason, they don’t want to pay for a government burial. If you go to England make sure you aren’t sick if you visit parliament. In Singapore, gum chewing in public is not allowed. People have put gum on the seats of buses, subways etc. Sounds sticky. In France, you can marry your dead sweetie, as long as you were engaged before they died. But, women wearing pants was against the law until this past year. W.T.H? In Dubai, public displays of affection are a big no no. Even a kiss on the cheek. Driving a dirty car in Russia is against the law. Dirty enough that you cant see the license plate or the driver. Here in PA sleeping on top of a fridge that is outside is against the law. So sleeping on top of one inside is ok? Makes you won- der what happened to make this something you shouldn’t do. In Canada, there is a no dueling law. Don’t go to Canada if you want to have a sword fight. The last weird law actually sounds like one that the us should do. In Samoa, it is against the law to forget your wife's birthday and not buying her a present is also against the law. A lot of these laws had me scratching my head, wondering what happened to make it against the law. I didn’t include some of the laws because they were in- appropriate, or just way too weird. Enjoy this article like you do my other ones. I might do a part two. Who knows. Blockbusters and Bombs At the Movies Since 1975 Remember any of these? Want to forget any of these? Here are the top money makers and the biggest money losers of every summer since 1975. 1975 was the defining year for blockbusters because the movie "Jaws" premiered and shattered all attendance records and money makers and set a precedent that Hollywood studios follow till today. As for the movie flops, there were so many every year in the past, that I had to choose the worst of the worst. It also proves that even being a sequel to a mega-hit, or lots of money, famous directors, famous actors, or lots of advertising can't prevent a movie from flopping...in other words, "What were they thinking when they made this?" 1975: Blockbuster: Jaws Bomb: At Long Last Love (a failed attempt to try and pay homage to 1930's-1940s song and dance musicals) 1976: Blockbuster: The Omen. Bomb: Alice, Sweet Alice (A low budget horror flick that features the film debut of Brooke Shields) 1977 : Blockbuster: Star Wars. Bomb: Exorcist 2: The Heretic (Another reason why not to make a sequel to one of the best horor movies of all time.) 1978: Blockbuster: Grease Bomb: Moment by Moment (A love story starring John Travolta and Lily Tomlin) 1979: Blockbuster: "The Amityville Horror." Bomb: "1941" (A Steven Spielberg comedy about adventures on the west coast of the USA in Pre World War 2. ) 1980: Blockbuster: " The Empire Strikes Back." Bomb: " Honky Tonk Freeway" (the title says it all.) 1982: Blockbuster: " E.T. The Extra Terrestrial. " Bomb: " Inchon" ( An epic sto- ry and epic failure starring British actor Laurence Olivier as US General Douglas Mac- Arthur.) 1983: Blockbuster: " Return of the Jedi." Bomb: " Staying Alive." ( one of the biggest sequel disasters of all time, it was based on the hit movie Saturday Night Fever. This one was written and directed by Sylvester Stallone.) 1984: Blockbuster: "Ghostbusters." Bomb: "The Cotton Club" (A Jazz Age crime drama musical set in a nightclub during Prohibition. Directed by Francis Ford Coppo- la, who directed The Godfather) 1985: Blockbuster: " Back To the Future." Bomb: "Revolution." (An epic film, and disaster, starring Al Pacino as a Scottish trapper during the American Revolution.) 1986: Blockbuster: "Top Gun. " Bomb: " Howard the Duck." ( Hands down, one of the greatest disasters of all time in Hollywood. It's the life of a cigar smoking duck, that was portrayed by real people dressed as a duck. 1987: Blockbuster: " Beverly Hills Cop II." Bomb: " Ishtar." ( Warren Beatty and Dustin Hoffman who bumble and stumble their way into the Cold War.} 1988:Blockbuster: "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?." Bomb: "Leonard, Part 6." (Arnold Schwarzenegger as an action hero in a movie, and a teenage movie fan magically transferred into that movie. ) 1994: Blockbuster: " The Lion King ." Bomb: "Cutthroat Island." (Starring Geena Davis as a female pirate who races other pirates in search of a hidden treasure hoard.) 1995: Blockbuster: " Batman Forever." Bomb: "Judge Dredd." ( Sylvester Stallone in the year 2132 as a law enforcement officer in a crime ridden city.) 1996: Blockbuster: "Independence Day." Bomb: "Mary Reilly." (Julia Rob- erts as a British maid to Dr. Henry Jekyll, alias Mr. Hyde) 1997: Blockbuster: "Men In Black. " Bomb: " Batman and Robin." ( Miscast George Clooney as Batman, miscast Chris O'Donnell as Robin, and a disaster of a performance by Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze.) 1998: Blockbuster: "Saving Private Ryan." Bomb: "The Avengers." (Not to be confused with Marvels The Avengers. This one was based on a classic British tv series of a top secret crime fighting duo. Starring Ralph Fiennes as John Steed, Uma Thurman as Mrs. Emma Peel, and Sean Connery as the villain.) 1999: Blockbuster: "Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace." Bomb: " Man on the Moon." (Well intentioned but poorly executed movie with Jim Carrey as comedian Andy Kaufman in a biopic that was more depressing than funny.) 2000: Blockbuster: "Mission Impossible II." Bomb: "Battlefield Earth." (Starring John Travolta, who leads a band of people against a race of al- iens who have ruled the earth for 1,000 years.) 2001: Blockbuster: "Shrek.
