The following DB options should be set for SBO-Common DB. The DB options for the company DB will at the discretion of the system administrator based on the needs of the company. • Autogrowth – 10% unrestricted • Autoshrink – True • Parameterization – Simple • Recovery Model – Simple 2. You should shrink the database and log files for both the Company DB and SBO-Common DB. • First check the size of the DB and log file, truncate them then check the size after and verify if there are any significant differences. For MSSQL 2005 & 2008: How to set DB options: o Open SQL Server Management Studio o Select the server instance. Right-click DB o Select Properties > Files > Autogrowth o Select Properties > Options > Autoshrink o Select Properties > Options > Parameterization How to shrink log file: o Open SQL Server Management Studio o Select the server instance. Right-click DB o Select Properties. Select General page. Under Database check Size o Right-click DB. Select Tasks > Shrink > Database o Check database size again. Are there any significant changes? Confirm the window o Backup the database How to shrink log file: o Open the MSSQL Server Enterprise Manager o Select the server instance. Open the folder Databases o Right-click on the database to be shrunk o Select 'All Tasks' and then 'Shrink Database' o Click on the button 'Files...' o In the field 'Database file' click on the drop-down arrow and select '<DatabaseName>_log' o Select the 'Shrink action' desired.
