The caption explains that the six men are planning the encirclement of "[Friedrich] Paulus's army in the vicinity of Stalingrad." The red illustrates Soviet forces and front lines, and the blue illustrates German and allied forces. The 6th army and IV SS Panzer Corps are shown in Stalingrad. The map was published as part of a series by Russian Publishing House for Political Literature. It is from the series titled History of the USSR, Issue XIII, No 19. The maker was the Department of Social and Economic Sciences at The Higher Party School under the CPSU (b), the most prestigious school for media workers in the USSR. The map was most likely issued after the war, as the dating and language are retrospective. The broadside lionizes Stalin and therefore was probably issued before Khrushchev's de-Stalinization, beginning in 1953. Detailed Condition: Drawer Ref: Russia Stock#: 52933 Page 2 of 2.
