I am a dual national (Australia and Canada) and relate to people well. I am socially accessible and enjoy pursuing meaningful international relationships. I am genuinely interested in curling and promoting the sport on a local, national and international level. I have over 100 games experience at an international level and have been to 6 World Championships, 9 Pacific Championships and 2 New Zealand Winter Games. I have international experience playing in 3 disciplines of curling (women, mixed doubles and mixed fours), so I have a deep understanding of more than one format at a competitive level. Coming from a country that has no dedicated curling facilities, I have had to become innovative in initiating creative training opportunities for our athletes prior to competitions. Because of the meaningful connections I have with players in many countries, Australia has been able to train in Latvia, Czech Republic, Japan, Denmark, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea and Canada in recent years. I have also assisted New Zealand with training contacts abroad. In the past I have been proactive in assisting the NZ Winter Games Organising committee to recruit competitive European teams for their competition. These examples of being a creative thinker and extending friendship for the betterment of our athletes, attest to my character and my genuine ability to make curlers’ needs heard and met. I have been a senior high school teacher for nearly 23 years. I have very good time management skills and am therefore highly organized. I am approachable, responsive and provide meaningful feedback to others. My successes as a teacher and athlete have led to part-time opportunities for public speaking engagements, both on paid and volunteer bases. I hope to be engaging and motivational and my topics include Cultural Diversity – making it as an immigrant, Women in Sport among other motivational ideas. Finally, I am the current Australian Curling Federation President and have been in a leadership role with this organization for the past 8 years. This is an elected, volunteer position and I believe that we work well as a team to solve issues and promote Australian Curling on the international stage. As the female representative with the WCF for Australia I enjoy attending Congress and I am confident expressing my opinion and knowledge from the players’ perspectives at open meetings. I was one of the people in the forefront to lobby for the changes in the most recent mixed doubles rule changes. .
