Conference games still tied after a five-minute 5-on-5 overtime advance to a five-minute 3-on-3 overtime (and sudden victory shootout if still tied) with the team that wins the second overtime/shootout receiving an extra point in the standings (3/SW in the standings). A 3-on-3 overtime or shootout win then is worth two points in the standings while the team that loses the 3-on-3 overtime/shootout receives just one point for the tie. The 3-on-3 overtime and shootouts only affect conference standings while the game is officially a tie for NCAA purposes. UpComiNg gameS NCHC FaCts aNd Figures • After four NCHC teams opened conference play last weekend, the other Friday, Nov. 4 four NCHC teams (CC, Miami, Omaha and SCSU) begin conference play *Miami at Western Michigan, 7:00 p.m. ET TV: American Sports Network this weekend with three NCHC series on the schedule as Minnesota Duluth No. 3/3 North Dakota at No. 13/13 Minnesota, 7:00 p.m. CT and Western Michigan play an NCHC series for a second straight week. TV: FOX Sports North and FOX College Sports Atlantic • Only one non-conference series is on the schedule as former WCHA and *Colorado College at Omaha, 7:07 p.m. CT bitter rivals No. 3/3 North Dakota and No. 13/13 Minnesota collide in a *No. 1/1 Minnesota Duluth at No. 8/8 St. Cloud State, 7:37 p.m. CT top-15 showdown. The NCHC’s .652 non-conference winning percentage TV: FOX Sports North PLUS and FOX College Sports Pacific (27-13-6) this season is tops among the six NCAA Division I men’s conferences. NCHC teams are a combined 4-1-1 against Big Ten foes this Saturday, Nov. 5 season, including St. Cloud State sweeping Minnesota Oct. 21-22. Denver moved up to No. 2 while TV: FOX Sports North PLUS and FOX College Sports Atlantic UND fell to No. 3. Four NCHC teams are ranked in both the USCHO.com Poll and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll this week, all in the top No. 3/3 North Dakota at No. 13/13 Minnesota, 8:00 p.m. CT 10 (St. Cloud State is No. 8), tying for the most top-10 teams from one TV: FOX Sports North and FOX College Sports Central conference. Seven NCHC teams received votes in the USCHO Poll and all seven would be in the top 28 if the poll were extended. (page 9) LaSt Week’S ResultS • Minnesota Duluth senior forward Alex Iafallo recorded his first career Friday, Oct. 28 hat trick last Friday against UND and finished the series with five points, earning him NCAA Second Star of the Week. He is the fifth NCHC player at Miami 2, Bowling Green 1 (OT) to record a hat trick this season, all in the last three weeks. Of the 14 *at No. 2/2 Minnesota Duluth 5, No. 1/1 North Dakota 2 NCAA players to tally a hat trick this season, no other conference has at Omaha 5, No. 5/5 UMass Lowell 1 produced more than three players with hat tricks. North Dakota is the only at No. 10/10 St. Cloud State 5, Alabama Huntsville 1 team in the NCAA with multiple players to record a hat trick so far this *at No. 3/3 Denver 3, Western Michigan 1 season (sophomore forwards Brock Boeser and Joel Janatuinen). • UMD was named the College Hockey News Team of the Week after Saturday, Oct. 29 sweeping then No. 1 UND last weekend.
