School Sport Victoria Boys 15 and Under Australian Rules Football 2018 Each year, talented Victorian School students have the opportunity to trial for a place in the School Sport Victoria (SSV) Team Vic State team. Selected students participate in the School Sport Australia (SSA) Championships to be held in Adelaide from Saturday 21 – 28 July 2018. These championships offer emerging students the opportunity to participate in higher levels of sporting competition against students from other Australian States and Territories. Many former and current AFL players have represented SSV Teams at these Championships over recent years, including Joel Selwood (Geelong), Patrick Dangerfield (Geelong), Steele Sidebottom (Collingwood), Joe Daniher (Essendon), Jack Ziebell (North Melbourne), Matt Crouch (Adelaide) and recent number one AFL draft picks Andrew McGrath (Essendon) and Cam Rayner (Brisbane). It should be understood that this program is an initiative of SSV on behalf of the Department of Education and Training (DET) and is not part of the AFL Victoria Pathways program. Your selection and/or participation in this program will not enhance nor hinder your football future with AFL Victoria or the AFL. Selection in this initial squad is a recognition and reinforcement of your budding football talent and we would encourage you (and your parents) to grasp this opportunity to participate in a program that encourages and promotes your sporting, educational, cultural and personal development. Participation in a School Sport Victoria Team Vic state team is self-funded. As a guide, it may cost between $2,000- $3,000 to participate. Costs may include uniforms, host state levies, flights, transport, accommodation and meals. Costs will vary depending on the location of the Championship.
