Eligibility to apply for Honours & General Degree Course (as per NBU Regulations): Candidates must pass H.S. Exam. (General Stream) from W.B.C.H.S.E. or must pass 10+2 pattern after a period of 12 years study or must pass in an exam. recognized as equivalent by the appropriate authority provided he/she has passed at least in five subjects with English as a compulsory subject. 1. a) To apply for Admission in Honours Course: Candidates must obtain either (i) 55% marks in the aggregate or (ii) 50% in the aggregate with 60% marks in the relevant subject in the qualifying examination. For SC/ ST candidates, the minimum marks for eligibility shall be (i) 50% marks in the aggregate or (ii) 45% in the aggregate with 60% in the relevant subject in the qualifying examination. In the matter of eligibility to apply for admission to Honours Courses 54.5% marks or above shall be treated as 55% marks, 49.5% or above shall be treated as 50% and 59.5% marks or above shall be treated as 60%. 2. Candidates must register through a mobile no. The mobile no. must be - i) authentic ii) accessible to the candidate so that he/she can receive SMS alerts easily 3. For seeking admission in Honours Course, a candidate can apply for 5 (five) subjects, viz Bengali, English, Sanskrit, Political Science and History in 1 (one) Application Form. 4. A candidate may apply for Honours course and General course in 1(one) form. 5. Mere submission of Application Form does not guarantee admission to the desired course. Owing to limited number of seats in Honours course, candidates seeking admission in Honours course are advised to fill-in and submit Application Form in General course as well. Otherwise, they will not get any chance for admission even in General course after the last date of submission of Application Form in General course is over. 7. All admissions will be strictly merit based. Merit will be calculated according to the following formula: For Honours Course: 2S+T Merit = 6 T = Marks obtained in English + Marks obtained in the subject opted for Honours + best marks of other two subjects [excluding EVS, the subject opted for Honours and English]. S = Marks obtained in the subject opted for Honours. For General Course: T1 Merit = 4 T1 = Marks obtained in English +best of 3 subjects excluding EVS. A single Merit List will be prepared taking applicants from all recognized boards together (vide Circular No. 359/UG-10(115) dated 22.06.2010, issued by the Office of the Secretary Under- Graduate Council, University of North Bengal. 8. Admission will not be considered complete unless the student has deposited his fees (Registration Fee & total admission fees) and his result/testimonials, etc. has been VERIFIED by the college authority. 9. Selection of candidates for admission to Honours course in various subjects and General course will be done through E-counselling only. 10. Admission may be cancelled if it is in contravention to University (NBU) Regulations and any rules framed by the college authority, or for any falsification of facts on the part of the candidate, even though detected afterward. 11. Under no circumstances, a candidate is entitled to get refund of fees already paid to the college. 12. As per the Resolution of the Meeting of the Executive Council of North Bengal University, held on 19.11.2013 under Misc. Item No.10, students who are already graduate in one discipline shall not be allowed to take admission and registration again in any other Under – Graduate Courses. 13. No admission will take place after expiry of the last date of Admission as notified by the University of North Bengal. 14. If a candidate has already taken admission in another college in Honours/General Course and seeks admission in this college, he must cancel his admission in the earlier college and produce a certificate to that effect to the college authority. Similarly, if a candidate, who has taken admission in this college, seeks admission any other college, he has to submit a written application to the Teacher-in-Charge of this college. 15. Registration: Whenever a candidate is admitted for the first time, he/ she will forward to the Registrar through the Principal an application for registration as a student of the University unless his/ her name has already been so registered. All admissions are provisional. If registration is not offered by the University the student’s admission is liable to be cancelled. In that case the students will not be entitled to any refund of fees already paid to the college. .
