The ThunderWolves broke open a 29-0 halftime lead, owing partly to their preferable starting field position on several drives. Despite the early setbacks, CSC’s Fort Lewis offensive attack got going in the second half, and the Eagles took the momentum for (1-1, 1-1 RMAC) much of the second half. Straight out of halftime, the Eagles’ Justin Cauley forced a fumble on the opening kickoff and marched 36 yards to paydirt. CSC held the visitors *Sept. 7 ........................... at N.M. Fort Lewis fared much less successfully against the Trailblazers than did the ThunderWolves, however. * Conference Games FLC got out to a 14-0 halftime lead, largely due to the 143 passing yards and 57 All times are subject to change rushing by quarterback Jake Lowry, who connected twice with receiver Isaac Leppke for scores. However the Trailblazers struck back in the second half, outgaining FLC 311 to 105 in the third and fourth quarters. DSU quarterback Kody Wilstead found three different receivers for touchdowns of 35 yards or more, and James Baird added a field goal as the game story went nearly identically to Dixie’s previous trip to Durango in a 23-14 Trailblazer victory. Formidable Foe The series record with Fort Lewis may tilt heavily in CSC’s favor, however the Eagles’ .875 win percentage belies a game in which CSC has historically struggled to pull away. Half of CSC’s 28 wins have been by a margin of 13 points or less, with 10 decided by a single possession. Four of those “close” games have been played in the past five years, with Fort Lewis claiming victory in 2015. What’s more, 10 of them occurred in seasons where the Eagles won seven games or more. Three close calls occurred in years CSC won RMAC titles. In 1996 the teams played a season opener, won by CSC 25-24 at a neutral site in Ray Patterson Stadium at Loveland, Colorado’s Thompson Valley High. Peculiarly they also ended the 1996 season with a 26-19 Eagles win in Chadron, in which CSC clinched an RMAC title and playoff berth. In 2006 CSC won 40-27 in Durango en route to an undefeated regular season and playoff win.. 1 2019 Chadron State Football | Twitter: @csceagles / CSCFootball | Facebook: /csceagles | #rmacfb | #EagleVision20 Chadron State Sports Information | www.chadroneagles.com Winning Tradition According to the NCAA Division II record book, the Chadron CHADRON STATE COLLEGE QUICK FACTS State football program began the season No. 23 all-time in total City/Zip ................................................................Chadron, NE 69337 victories.
