NEWS Bootle Football Club’s YOUTH The original Bootle F.C. were formed in 1880 and played at Hawthorne Road. Vodkat League First Division They were in fact Everton FC’s biggest Champions rivals. In 1889–90 Bootle became founder 2008-09 members of the Football Alliance, narrowly missing out on the football 1964-65, 1975-76, league to the blues. That season was the 1978-79 most successful as we finished league runners-up, reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, where we lost to Blackburn 1965-66, 1967-68, Rovers (0-7). When the Alliance merged with the Football 1973-74 League in 1892, Bootle became founder members of the new Liverpool County Second Division. However, despite a respectable 8th place FA Youth Cup Under 18’s - West Cheshire League - Manager Richie Boswarva final position, the club dropped out after one season (and 1977-78, 1984-85, 1990-91, were replaced by neighbours Liverpool) and seemingly 1999-00, 2005-06 Under 17’s - Liverpool Premier League - Manager Ste Miller disappeared due to financial problems. In 1948 when the club were Combination Champions elected to the Lancashire Combination 2, which was won at 1964-65, 1965-66, 1967-68, Under 15’s - Belvale Junior League - Manager Carl Dale the first attempt. However, Bootle struggled in the top-flight and 1968-69, 1969-70, 1970-71, after several tough seasons withdrew and 1971-72, 1972-73, 1973-74 Under 14’s - Hightown JFL - Manager Lee Williams folded during the 1953–54 campaign. Lancashire County In 1953, the current club was formed as Combination Champions Langton and played in the local leagues. 1975-76, 1976-77 Under 12’s - Bootle & Litherland JFL - Manager Tony Smith After a very successful spell in the Cheshire County League Liverpool County Combination (which we Div Two Champions Under 10’s - Bootle & Litherland JFL - Manager Darren Carr won on numerous occasions) the club reverted back to it’s It’s 1978-79 better known identity of Bootle F.C. in 1973; and a year later North West Counties League Under 9’s - Bootle & Litherland JFL - Manager David Miley joined the Lancashire Combination, which we won in 1976 Div Two Runners-up and 1977. Bootle then joined the Second Division of the 1992-93 Cheshire County League, which was won in our first season, Tennants Floodlit Trophy Under 8’s - Bootle & Litherland JFL - Manager Phil Dobson and we were promoted to the First Division. In 1982 the Winners Cheshire County League was one of the leagues that merged 1993-94 Under 7’s - Bootle & Litherland JFL - Manager Ste Miller to form the North West Counties League, which Bootle duly Vodkat League Challenge joined, becoming a member of the First Division. The club Cup Runners-up spent most of their time in the First Division until 2000 when we unfortunately dropped into the Second Division. However, 2007-08 despite finishing 6th in 2002, the club Vodkat League dropped into the Liverpool County Reserve Division Winners Combination. In 2006 the club, with a new 2007-08, 2009-10 ground, were elected back into Division 2 Runners-up of the North West Counties League. In 2009 2008-09 Bootle won promotion to the NWCL Premier *Liverpool Senior Cup Division and also won the Championship. In 2009/10, our first Winners season back in the NWCFL Premier Division Bootle finished a 1883, 1888, 1889 NWCFL highest placing of 3rd. In 2010/11 finished 6th place. *Football Alliance They equalled the 3rd place again in 2012. With the ground Runners-up grading and charter standard status established in 2011/12 1889-90 the club are looking to progress to the next level. 2 Bootle Football Club - Founder members of the Football Alliance 1889, The Football League Div2* 1892 & The Northwest Neil Prince Peter Withe Counties Football League 1982 Bootle run riot and hit Custys for Nine ! Awarded FA Charter Standard Status in Bootle Under 18’s travelled to Custys on Saturday for the only Youth November 2011 fixture to beat the wet weather, returning home entirely satisfied with their An associated committee mornings work. The starting team was a familiar one with Wishart consisting of elected members: deputising for the injured Bromfield at the heart of the defence alongside Captain Antony Seddon. Mr Frank Doran Jnr The game began with Bootle immediately on the front foot and within a minute they took the lead. A ball into the Custys box wasn't dealt with by Mr Ben Roberts the home defence and Cheetham was on hand to lash home the loose Mr Frank Doran Snr ball from 12 yards out. Mr Joe Benton MP Custys responded by exerting some sustained pressure on the Bootle defence and twice tested keeper Mathew Lea who was equal to the test. Mr Bobby Capstick, Mr Bootle soaked up the pressure well and scored a classic counter Dave Ruth, Mr Geoff Frasier, Mr Tommy McKay, Mr Tony attacking goal on the half hour with a move that started on the edge of McKay their own box and 4 passes later, Rowlands dispatched the ball into the bottom corner, at the near post. Rowlands repeated the feat a few Mr Joseph Doran minutes before half time latching onto a great through ball from Cheetham and finishing clinically again. 3-0 to Bootle at half time Mr Dave Miley Snr Pruden and Holcroft were replaced at half time by Flynn and Chambers Mr Neil Prince and Custys were quick out of the blocks forcing Bootle to defend well again for the first 10 minutes of the second period. Mr James Olsen However, from this point onwards Bootle produced their best form of the Mr Liam Blakeman season with some slick passing and movement the home side couldn't contain. Further goals followed from Cheetham and Rowlands who was Mr Paul McCowen then replaced by Loughlin after scoring a great hat trick. Loughlin was Mr Darren Carr quickly into the action linking beautifully down the left hand side with his Mr Lee Stenson full back Archer and the midfield trio of Charnock, Cheetham and Fairclough. His indistry and skill was rewarded with 2 goals and a further Mr Dave Miley Jnr, Mr A Bennett efforts from Cheetham and Law made the final scoreline Custys 0 Bootle Mr Carl Dale 9 !
