Senior Bulletin

Senior Bulletin

Senior Bulletin Baccalaureate Baccalaureate, previously scheduled for May 23, has been cancelled, due to the social distancing requirements of COVID-19 and limited capacity of the community center for such a large event. Graduation Practice Seniors will practice for graduation Friday, May 28, at 8:30 AM at the stadium. You are required to be present for practice. Those who are not on time or in attendance may not be able to participate in commencement. Make arrangements with your employer if you are scheduled to work. Plan for practice to last at least 2 hours. Maintain 6 ft distancing at all times, and wear a mask. Graduation Ceremony Commencement will be held Friday, May 28, at 8:00 PM. You must be dressed in cap and gown on Friday night and in line by 7:00 PM. Leave cell phones with a family member or in your car. Please park in the junior high parking lot and meet in at the junior high mall. Maintain 6 ft distancing at all times. Dress Code for Commencement In addition to the stipulations outlined in this bulletin for proper graduation attire, seniors should remain within the Yoakum High School dress code in regard to the following matters: -All students: All tattoos should be covered; No freakish or grotesque hairstyles, and no unnatural hair colorings. No beads or feathers in hair. Bottoms must fit appropriately at the waist and shall not be overly tight, baggy, and/or low riding. -Females: No piercings other than earrings. Wear a skirt and a blouse, pantsuit, or dress that meets regular dress code strap requirements. A width of three fingers is a good guideline. Sew or baste in place the gown collar if you are not in NHS. The adhesive tabs you receive with it do not work well. -Males: Be clean shaven. Hair should not cover the eyes or extend beyond the top of a polo-style collar. The hair on the side may cover the ear to t the bottom of the ear lobe, but it must be trimmed and neat. No lines or designs shaven into hair, and no piercings. Wear a white or light-colored dress shirt, a tie, and dress slacks. NO JEANS!! Wear dress shoes or dress boots. Please make sure your gown is pressed or steamed. Usually we are able to help you pin hair and tape down stoles. We may not be able to do that this year. You must plan ahead and have all of that taken care of on your own. Please come fully dressed and fully prepared. It is usually windy on the field. Ladies, use bobby pins to secure your hats. NHS members, use double sided tape to stick down your stoles so they don’t flap around while you’re marching. Caps and Gowns You must have a NEW cap and gown from Balfour to participate in graduation. Cap and gown orders were placed through Balfour in October. Please act soon and get your cap and gown ordered if you have not done so already. Late fees may apply. Caps and gowns from past years cannot be worn again. Place cap and gown orders online at www.balfour.com or by contacting Larry Thompson, our Balfour representative. Larry Thompson 210-377-2407 [email protected] .
