DAY 2 | ARCHAEOLOGICAL AREA OF NORA, CAPO SPARTIVENTO LIGHTHOUSE AND CHIA BEACHES Morning, meeting with your Private Guide and departure by a comfortable van. The south west of Sardinia is very rich of treasures, from the archaeological sites to the natural reserves. The ancient Punic and Roman city of Nora hide a fascinating history of the first domination of the island, with the mosaics and the roman ruins situated in a gorgeous position in the coast. Sulcis Iglesiente is a subregion of Sardinia located in the southwest part, highlighted by its historical mining activity especially in the last century. During this day we will take you to cross this area and we will enter in the old mine of Porto Flavia, one of the most suggestive places in Sardinia. Oristano area was an area of Sardinian kingdom in the middle age, one of the last to surrender in the battles of the island conquest from the Sea Republics. Check in hotel in a nice village near Alghero In the morning we’ll leave for Oristano, located in the central part of the western coast of the island. Along the way we will visit the ruins of Tharros and the nearby beach Is Arutas. During the tour stop for lunch in Is Arutas the most enchanting beach in Sardinia, lunch in a typical restaurant front the sea. Is Arutas beach is famous for its sand made of a particular grains of colored quartz: green, orange, sky blue, rose and pearl colored. Consider that it is strictly forbidden to take away even a single grain of that sand. It preserved as natural local heritage. Oristano is an ancient city of medieval origin that represents one of the most important realities of the immense and varied cultural heritage of Sardinia thanks to the beautiful neighboring beaches and the famous carnival of the Sartiglia, a tournament that dates from 1358 and that takes place last Sunday of carnival and Tuesday of the carnival. It is a great historical and cultural event that attracts locals and visitors alike and includes crusades, duels and costumes. Later we’ll visit the archaeological site of Sinis, one of the areas of Sardinia with the largest number of archaeological and natural treasures such as the giants of Monti Prama, the archaeological area of Tharros and the beach of San Giovanni di Sinis. This last one, one of the most spectacular beaches in Sardinia thanks to its natural beauty, crystal clear waters and the special energy that is next to the Phoenician ruins of the city of Tharros. Or in alternative visit Cabras Museum and its interesting evidences, where strangely Nuclear Physics meets Archeology. The Museum contains the Giants of Mont'e Prama, the greatest archaeological discovery of the late 20th century in the Mediterranean. The Civic Archaeological Museum of Cabras, is a travel from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages through traces of the past discovered on the Sinis peninsula. An aura of legend surrounds the stone statues of the Giants, kept in a room that was opened in 2014. In the burial area of Mont'e Prama, which dates back to the Iron Age (8th century BC), over five thousand fragments were found.
