Married to our Queen, as Princess Elizabeth in 1947, he was unexpectedly thrust into the role of Consort when King George V1 died suddenly in 1952, and his new wife became Queen. I had occasion to photograph him at a couple of functions in the 1990s, once at Frogmore at a community dinner, and once at Englemere on the occasion of his 75th Birthday, and found him to be courteous, friendly and indeed, helpful, in organising those around him for my benefit. His life was Tony Parker one of tremendous service and we shall miss him. Let’s come out of our hibernation with the same vigorousness as nature does; after all, according to the latest wisdom from David Attenborough, we are part of nature, just as much as the flowers, greenery and small creatures that surround us.
