This booklet gives a rundown of the activities taking place across the borough to help ensure children are entertained all summer long. This year we are launching the Snap Dragon Children and Families Festival, a week packed full of things to do for all the family, we hope whatever you do will be fun, active and safe. Places are limited so please call 01455 255707 to book. •••whats going down? 6 summer 2013 ••• Snap Dragon family event Snap Dragon Children and Family Festival 2013 This is a new and exciting festival taking place in Hinckley from 5 – 9 August. There will be lots of exciting activities happening throughout the week, which will be free of charge or very low cost. A full programme is detailed on the next few pages, but please note activities and locations are subject to change. ‘Snappy’ the dragon was created by two students at Hinckley college and will be featured on all publicity that is related to the festival. Programmes will be available to collect from Hinckley Hub and Hinckley Leisure Centre in July or during the event week. This will contain all the activities, a town centre map and the chance for you to collect stamps from each activity you visit. There will also be lots of other activities happening every Wednesday throughout July and August, please visit www.hinckleybid.co.uk Draw a dragon competition A competition run by the Hinckley Times asking children to send in their drawings of a dragon with reference to the Snapdragon Festival and dates. The winner, chosen by The Hinckley Times, will win the prize to come into the studio at the Pottery Shed, Atkins Building and paint their picture onto a plate. The Pottery Shed will also be offering a 10% discount to anyone painting Dragon characters or dragons on plates and mugs during the Snapdragon Festival week. Enjoy a browse around the Hinckley Market plus lots of family activities. Peep boards • Market Place - all day, FREE. Come with your children or family and take some fun photos for your memory box. Xplorer • Hollycroft Park, Hinckley. Meet at bowling green entrance 10.30am. Have fun together - explore the fields, find the coloured animal markers, complete the challenge & receive free Xplorer stickers! Come and meet Snappy • Argents Mead - 11.00am to 12noon, FREE Meet our friendly dragon, have a photo or just a cuddle. Facepainting • Argents Mead •10.00am - 3.00pm, FREE or small charge. Youth4You/Play Workers • Top of Castle Street and Argents Mead • 1.00pm to 3.00pm, FREE. Get involved with fun activities that can be done in the comfort of your own home, crafts and arts from recycled objects. Wet and Wild • Hinckley Leisure Centre • 1.30pm to 2.30pm, under 16s £2.05, over 16s £3.25. Inflatable fun in Hinckley Leisure Centre’s swimming pool. Family craft morning • St Mary’s church Hall • 10.30am - 12noon, £1 per child, refreshments provided. Cardboard model making, spray painting, salt dough. Must be accompanied by an adult.
