Beta-amyloid precursor protein is a cell surface protein with signal-transducing properties, and it is thought to play a role in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. In addition, the encoded protein can form a heterodimer with UBE1C and bind and activate NEDD8, a ubiquitin-like protein. This protein is required for cell cycle progression through the S/M checkpoint. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] Synonyms: A-116A10.1; APPBP1; HPP1; ula-1 Protein Pathways: Alzheimer's disease Product images: HEK293T cells were transfected with the pCMV6- ENTRY control (Cat# [PS100001], Left lane) or pCMV6-ENTRY NAE1 (Cat# [RC201326], Right lane) cDNA for 48 hrs and lysed. Equivalent amounts of cell lysates (5 ug per lane) were separated by SDS- PAGE and immunoblotted with anti-NAE1 (Cat# TA804384). Positive lysates [LY422668] (100ug) and [LC422668] (20ug) can be purchased separately from OriGene.
