The influence of the stand-off distance, thickness of the flyer tube, position of the field shaper, the shape of the inner workpiece and the material were discussed, based on the results of a series of experiments. A series of formulas was set up to help understand the influence of the parameters. A literature study on the explosive welding process was used to get a better understanding of the bonding and the deformation behaviour.
