Herbert Lasky, director of the University Honors Program, said the idea, initiated by Eastern President David Jorns, of sending honors students to study in other countries has been discussed for a couple of years, and the only thing the honors program was waiting for was the approval from the CAA. “(Jorns) thought it would be a great opportunity for the students,” he said. “I have talked to other presidents and faculty members at other universities and all of them think this is a good idea,” Lasky said. “Some of the universities, such as Texas A&M and University of Utah, are interested in doing the program along with Eastern.” Students will be placed in countries where English is not the first language.
