Comics heroine comes to Theatre Lawrence Annie will charm the hearts of all when she takes the Theatre Lawrence stage November 30 – December 16. Based on the popular comic strip by Harold Gray, Annie has become a worldwide phenomenon and is the winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The beloved book and score by Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, features some of the greatest musical theatre hits ever written, including Tomorrow, and Hard Knock Life and opens on Friday, November 30th. A plucky, orphan girl, Annie (Adelle Spiess and Vivi Riffel) is on a mission to find her parents in 1930s New York City, after being abandoned years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan (Amanda Clark). With the help of the other girls in the orphanage, Annie escapes and experiences adventure in The Big Apple, making friends with billionaire Daddy Warbucks (Hank Rischar), Franklin D. Roosevelt (Dean Bevan) and a lovable dog, Sandy (Winnie) until finally finding her forever home. Annie‘s rags to riches tale is guaranteed to please audiences and remind us that helping those who are less fortunate can turn out to be the most rewarding gift of all.
