February 11, 2008 Family Fun at the Alberta Legislature 2008 - A Magical Experience! Edmonton... “Each year Alberta’s Legislature celebrates Family Day by offering a variety of entertainment and exhibits for all ages to enjoy, and this year the magic continues,” said Speaker Ken Kowalski. Those looking to add a bit of magic to their Family Day can catch the free family fun from noon to 4 p.m. on February 18 at the Alberta Legislature. Wagon rides around the vast Legislature Grounds, a leisurely skate on the south grounds rink and ice sculptures . sound like fun? It gets better! Inside the pedway Kent Wong the Travelling Magician will keep the kids smiling while he pulls a rabbit out of his hat and eagerly transforms balloons into creatures of all shapes and sizes. The carnival of magic features face painting and games, and kids of every age can dress up and play the part of the Speaker or the Lieutenant Governor with the Interpretive Centre’s Mock Legislature educational program. Also, there are two new exhibits to check out: Domestic Bliss is an art exhibit from the Alberta Arts Foundation celebrating the uniqueness of family as depicted by Alberta artists; and the LEGOslature, created by the Northern Alberta LEGO Users Group, is a fun and spectacular model of the Legislature Building standing a metre tall and constructed of 120,000 LEGO parts – guaranteed to make you feel like a kid again!
