PTP Yr 7 & 8’s Starts Tuesday 4th May Impromptu School Outing: Last Thursday we had an impromptu school outing with our tamariki being able to observe a transformer being moved through Mangaweka. From talking to the workmen transformers are rarely moved and if this does occur, it usually happens every 3 to 4 years. It was amazing to see how this piece of machinery is manourvered out of Mangaweka to the main highway. The reason the transformer was in our area over night, was due to the workmen needing to access another trailer with multiple wheels to withstand the weight of the transformer so it could be driven over bridges. End of Term 1 Assembly: this Friday @ 2:00pm to acknowledge the mahi and progress of our tamariki this term. Look forward to seeing you there. PTP Taihape Area School: starts for our Year 7 & 8 students in Term 2 on Tuesday 4th May. Our school bus will take our tamariki to TAS from school at 11:00am to arrive at TAS by 11:30am and pick them up at 2:15pm to return to school by 2:40pm. First Aid Course: Mangaweka Plunket will be offering a first aid course Saturday 22nd May starting at 8:30am to 5:30pm. Venue to be confirmed. Please contact Charlotte Carrington email: [email protected] School Pool Closed: as we have come to the end of our swimming season, our school pool is now officially closed. Please return all keys to the office so that key refunds can be issued. Thank you! Reminders: Bus Roll: The bus roll is taken at the end of day. This is taken for safety reasons so that the school is aware of which children are travelling home on the afternoon buses. Student Absences: If your child/ren are going to be absent from school please let us know on the day or before-hand if possible. This ensures the school is notified of absenteeism and lessens the need to make phone calls to parents / caregivers. Thank you! Open-door Policy: We have an open-door policy at Mangaweka School. Registration for the competition being held in Term 2 2021 will be held at St. Joseph’s School Fields on Sunday 11th April at 11am. Taihape Junior Football is a registered Club and as such needs to have formal meetings and AGM and appointments to positions, e.g., Treasurer, President etc Many of the people that have held these positions for many years no longer have children involved in soccer and are now handing over the mantle of care to others to step up and carry on these roles. The format for this year's competition is likely to be Taihape teams against Hunterville teams with possible one-off games against Waiouru starting in Term 2, for ten weeks. Games will be held on Thursday afternoons with details about where to be decided. Players from ages 5-13 (Year 0-8). Coaches will be needed to step up on Registration Day too. If on Registration Day these positions are filled a formal handover will be made to the new committee. The existing committee are happy to help new position holders merge into their new roles in the first instance. Registration Day: Sunday 11th April at 11am Thank you, Allan Cant (President), Carla Wilson (Secretary) and Tracey Scott (Treasurer).
