Informal Meeting/ Updates Bidur, Nuwakot Cluster: Food Security Date: 13 July, 2015 Venue: District Agriculture Development Office 1. Summary Agency wise update: Oxfam, Jabran Taheri (# 9810153740) - Oxfam will complete the post-distribution monitoring of seeds germination this week and will submit a report to DADO and DDRC. - Oxfam is planning for conditional cash programming in future for targeted 8 VDC- VDC profiling, sub clustering and formation of committees through Board Based Community meetings is in process in two VDC ( Samari and Bhudashing) - The distribution of grain seeds bag will remain continue this week in Betini, Madanpur, and Khadakbhjyang VDC’s WFP, Lakpa Tamang (# 9851164654) - Distributed 1135.75 MT of rice, 164.4 MT of Pulse, 69.91 MT Oil & 16.209 MT for Plumpy Doz in 45 VDCs of 214426 populations to date. Due to unavailability of rice, in 5 VDCs (Charghare, Bageswori, Panchkannya, Gerkhu & Haldikalika VDC) out of 45 VDCs rice package is not distributed. In these VDCs, rice transportation is ongoing & will be distributed in week. CDC Nepal (Save the Children partner), Saurav Thapa (#9843238942) - CDC Nepal has conducted seed germination monitoring visit in Taruka & Dangsing VDCs. According to monitoring visit report germination ratio is good in Taruka VDC & some less productive results in Dangsing VDC. FAO, Babu Ram Gautam (#9851127552) - Planning to support wheat seeds & it has started to procurement & market surveys for purchasing quality seeds. FAO has requested that to quality lab testing report to ensure the quality seeds before support. - FAO has planned to support winter season vegetable seed. - FAO has planned to support 770 HHs for renovation/maintenance animal shed in the district. - FAO will be support minerals’ block for livestock’s for 11300 HHs in the district. ACF, Amad Khan (#9810103296) - In Kabilas VDC, 1.88 million NPRs were distributed among CFW beneficiaries - Similarly, 1.05 Million NPRs were distributed to CFW beneficiaries in Chaugada VDC - PDM is started in Kabilas and Chaugada VDCs - Planning to distribute cash in Suryamati VDC - Involvement in Need assessment and survey to identify the gaps and accordingly in liaison with community, VDC, FSC coordinators and administrative management - ACF is planning for integrated cash programming in future - ACF is also planning to provide support in DRR sector http://foodsecuritycluster.net/countries/Nepal/Nuwakot SUAAHARA, Bhogendra K. Khatri (#9843231306) - As share on last week’s meeting, food security & livelihood activities in ongoing. - Suaahara is established two community brooding centre at Kani-7 & Belkot, Tgaun. - Suaahara programme planning to conduct 2 days homestead food production) basis training in 8 VDC after 27 July 2015 (Thansing, Panchkannya, Thaprek, Madanpur, Shikharbesi, Rautbesi, Balkumari & Sumndaratar). 2. Challenges 3. AOB tentatively - District Food Security Network workshop led by WFP is tentatively scheduled on 23 &24 July 2015. Food Security Cluster members are invited to participate in the event. - DADO has requested to submit post distribution monitoring report for seed germination with quality lab test report. - District Agriculture Development office will provide support to the cluster partners for conducting post distribution monitoring seeds germinations- if required. 4. Decisions Made - The Food security cluster meeting will be conducted on Bi-weekly bases regularly , Monday, 8:00 am in DADO office- Nuwakot district - The establishment of Cash working Group and development of TOR’s will also involve the participation of other cluster leads ( at district level) – Need support from National Food Security cluster on that.
