The club has a continuous distinguished history. In its early years, Clydesdale also played football, and were influential in the setting up of the Scottish Football Association in 1870. Soon after, in 1874, the club's footballers were the losing finalists against Queen's Park in the first Scottish Cup final. The subscription rates are determined each year at the Annual General Meeting, which is normally held at the end of June. Hockey players' subscriptions are due on 1st September, cricket players on 1st April, with non-playing social membership subscriptions due on 1st January. Family membership is due at the time of the section in which the members, junior or senior, are playing. Your year's subscription will be in accordance with these timings, irrespective of your date of admission to membership of the Club. As part of our aim to promote a family atmosphere, we have introduced a scheme to encourage 'family membership'. This entitles all your children under 18 to free junior membership of the club if two or more adults from the same household are either playing or non-playing members. Please note that each member is entitled to be accompanied by guests, each of whom can be signed in on up to six occasions per year. The club, however, is keen that members encourage their friends to join the club as members in their own right. Members are also encouraged to use the clubhouse facilities for any private functions they may wish to hold. The continuous support and use of the club by its members is essential for its upkeep and day-to-day running.
