We are excited to be hosting you for the tenth edition of Ironman 70.3 Calgary, Western Canada’s first Ironman 70.3 and the only not-for-profit Ironman 70.3 race anywhere. We are excited to celebrate our tenth anniversary and glad that many athletes are returning (a select few are returning for their tenth consecutive year). We are also happy to welcome some first-time racers, we know you will enjoy your day. Last year we had to make changes to our race course due to construction in a number of areas on our previous bike and run courses. We had so much positive feedback on the course last year that we have made only a few small improvements to the course this year. This course is faster and safer while keeping the scenic beauty of the western Canadian foothills at the forefront. One notable change is that the transition area is changing for this year. At the request of the Auburn Bay Community Association, we will no longer be on the tennis courts but in the parking lot. This provides us with more space, fewer restrictions on passage through gates and ensures the tennis courts are not damaged. We still have only one transition, the start and finish are still in the beautiful Auburn Bay Community and we are only a very short walk from our host hotel. Our event requires hundreds of volunteers who perform essential tasks such as course marshals, medical services, aid station crews, race clean-up squads – and everything in between! Please show them how much we all appreciate their contribution with a smile, a wave or a thank you! Finally, congratulations to all participants for all your hard work thus far. Getting to the start line is the hard part - race day is your time to enjoy. All of us at the Ironman 70.3 Calgary team look forward to you achieving your goals and greeting you at the finishing line!
