Roy PRELUDE TO “LOHENGRIN” By Richard Wagner Born May 22, 1813, in Leipzig; died February 13, 1883, in Venice. Wagner wrote the three acts of his romantic opera Lohengrin between September 9, 1846, and August 2, 1847, and completed the prelude on August 28. The instrumentation occupied him during the following winter and spring. The prelude was first performed at the première of the opera in the Court Theatre, Weimar, August 28, 1850, Franz Liszt con­ ducting.
