No, it wasn't held on palatial grounds overlooking Lake Michigan, and Tammy Baldwin only appeared on the invitations — not in person. 9 Tidbits from Titletown Nonetheless, the turnout, approximately half of last year's, was very disappointing. This comes only a few Spotlight Section weeks after Lambda's victory in a landmark Boy Scouts case, as reported in last week's cover story. 21 Albert Brooks Interview There were a few new faces at the event. There were some of the same old reliables who attend four or five "must attend" events each year. While thanks should go out to the few attorneys who were there, where were 24 Deep Inside Hollywood the others? But mostly, where are our professionals, those who could afford to be there, and where are our wealthy? They surely exist. They have their stocks and bonds and real estate, some of it hard earned, some of LifeStyle Section it inherited. The power of a couple hundred more people donating a thousand or two, and a few people donating a few tens of thousands, could be truly profound. The good things that are 30 Marketplace happening all around us, as we gain real political and institutional influence, would have been unthinkable without the support of a dedicated cadre of volunteers and donors. Yes, it is also important for us to be involved beyond the LGBT Community. The various arts and other charitable work that we do are important, but we need to find ways to involve a few hundred more good peo- Staff ple in our community's efforts.
