MORLAND CHORISTERS CAMP TRUSTEES The Trustee Board comprises nine trustees, as follows. CLERICAL The Dean of Carlisle The Very Revd Mark Boyling has been a Trustee since 2004 (upon his appointment as Dean of Carlisle) and has been Chairman since 2006. Before moving to Cumbria he had served his entire ministry in the Diocese of Liverpool, including four years as personal Chaplain to the Bishop of Liverpool and 10 years as Precentor of Liverpool (the largest Cathedral in the country). He is married with two young children. His interests include liturgy and partnership in world mission. He is a keen cook and enjoys travel, with a special interest in Central and South America. The Bishop of Penrith The Right Revd Robert Freeman has been a Trustee since his appointment as Bishop of Penrith in 2011. He trained for the ministry at Ridley Hall, Cambridge, then served in the Dioceses of Blackburn, Chelmsford and Leicester before becoming Archdeacon of Halifax in 2003. He is Chair of the innovative rejesus.co.uk , is married with three daughters, and his interests include walking and travelling, classic Motown, electric blues and rock music, computer technology, reluctant gardening, reading crime and action-adventure fiction, and spending time with the family. MUSIC Marilyn Prescott GRNCM, LRAM, LTCL A Graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, Marilyn studied piano and viola and gained a PGCE from St Martin’s College Lancaster before her appointment as music specialist at a Lancaster Primary School. Many of her piano pupils have been ABRSM prizewinners and have entered the profession as teachers or performers. Organist & Choirmaster at Morecambe Parish Church since 1983, she has been connected with the Morland Camp for over 20 years, her two children also have long associations with the Camp, and she has for many years been RSCM Lancashire Area Education & Training Officer. MORLAND Stewart Fyfe read Economics at university and trained in law, working as a solicitor in London before studying for the Ministry at Ridley Hall Cambridge. He was Assistant Curate in the ‘Barony of Burgh’ group of parishes near Carlisle, and now has responsibility for the ‘North Westmorland’ churches, having moved to Morland in 2010. He has a great passion for music, singing regularly in choirs and as a soloist; with principal tenor roles in Cumbria Opera and sometimes deputising in Carlisle Cathedral choir. He is a keen follower of cricket and Rugby Union; enjoys gardening, cooking, reading and bird- watching; and has an interest in history, rural affairs, sheep and cattle breeds, hill walking, steam engines and old British cars. Jean Scott has an English degree and DipEd from King’s College, Newcastle, and taught in Northumberland and Yorkshire before moving to Fleetwood Grammar School in Lancashire. After amalgamations this became a large Comprehensive, Fleetwood High School, where she was Head of English. She was also Assistant Principal GCSE English Examiner for the Joint Matriculation Board, and had a period as a teaching union Field Officer. Throughout her life, Jean has played the piano and sung in choirs and choral societies. She has been a Morland School Governor since 1994 (was Chair for 7 years), is Secretary of Morland PCC, and has been a Trustee of Camp since 1999. FAMILY Frances Yeowart (neé Markham) spent holidays in Morland House from an early age, and moved there from Grimsby at the age of ten. She has a BA in Geography from University College London, and later gained a PGCE in secondary school music at Reading University and an MA in Arts Policy & Management at Birkbeck College London, and for many years was a classical music agent and artist/concert manager. She has Grade 8 violin and piano, and plays the violin in chamber music groups and in an amateur orchestra. She was twice a member of the Camp staff in the 1970s and has been a Trustee since 1996. Three of her four children have attended Camp. STAFF Simon Gordon See staff list. Simon has been involved with the Morland camp since 1992, was elected to the Trustee Board in 2007, and has been House Father since 2013. Sophie Baird See staff list. Sophie has been involved with the Morland camp since 2001, was elected to the Trustee Board in 2015, and was appointed House Mother in 2016. TREASURER Nick Willmer See staff list. Nick has been involved with the Morland camp since 1978 and was elected to the Trustee Board in 1992. .
