Frank Doran Jnr Eventually a quick break after Jack Miley broke up the play at the back, he played a great pass in field to Jack Whorton. Whorton Frank Doran Snr turned and played Michael Bowness down the right. Bowness beat Joe Benton MP two players before cutting inside and playing Harrison Beesley who Dave Ruth, Geoff Frasier, jinxed then played a sneaky pass into Jack Reardon. Reardon took Dave Miley Snr one touvh then rifled a fantastic drive from outside the box into the roof of the net. Joseph Doran After half time the Bucks seemed to switch off and within 5 minutes Bobby Capstick found themselves two goals down. Credit to Netherton Foxes who looked dangerous going forward. Neil Prince Neil Black Soon the Bucks got back on the front foot and from a free kick fired in by Jack Reardon, Harrison Beesley was on hand to prod home. Neil Murphy Soon after Joseph Harold turned and fired low into the box. Then Richie Boswarva Sean Miller played a great ball into Bowness but he couldn’t find the Darren Carr net. Dave Miley Jnr, [email protected] 26 3 *Original Club folded in 1893 The original Bootle F.C. were formed in 1880 and played at Hawthorne Road. They were in fact Everton FC’s biggest rivals. In 1889–90 Bootle became founder members of the Football Alliance, narrowly missing out on the football league to the blues. That season was the most successful as we finished league runners-up, reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, where we lost to Blackburn Rovers (0-7). When the Alliance merged with the Football League in 1892, Bootle became founder members of the new Second Division. However, despite a respectable 8th place final position, the club dropped out after one season (and were replaced by neighbours Liverpool) and seemingly disappeared due to financial problems. Football returned to Hawthorne Road when a new club, Bootle Athletic. was later formed with the new team initially playing in the Liverpool Leagues. In 1948 when the club were elected to the Lancashire Combination 2, which was won at the first attempt. However, Bootle struggled in the top-flight and after several tough seasons withdrew and folded during the 1953–54 campaign. In 1953, the current club was formed as Langton and played in the local leagues. After a very successful spell in the Liverpool County Combination (which we won on numerous occasions) the club reverted back to it’s It’s better known identity of Bootle F.C. in 1973; and a year later joined the Lancashire Combination, which we won in 1976 and 1977. Bootle then joined the Second Division of the Cheshire County League, which was won in our first season, and we were promoted to the First Division. In 1982 the Cheshire County League was one of the leagues that merged to form the North West Counties League, which Bootle duly joined, becoming a member of the First Division. The club spent most of their time in the First Division until 2000 when we unfortunately dropped into the Second Division. However, despite finishing 6th in 2002, the club dropped into the Liverpool County Combination. In 2006 the club, with a new ground, were elected back into Division 2 of the North West Counties League. In 2009 Bootle won promotion to the NWCL Premier Division and also won the Championship. In 2009/10, our first season back in the NWCFL Premier Division Bootle finished a NWCFL highest placing of 3rd. In 2010/11 finished 6th place. They equalled the 3rd place again in 2012. 2013 saw Bootle come so close to promotion, narrowly missing out with three games to go, and eventually finishing 3rd again. However they put that disappointment aside to win the Liverpool Senior Cup for the first time in 124 years. 25 Good evening and welcome to the Delta Taxis Stadium for tonight’s MATCHDAY PRICES Northwest Counties Premier Division game and welcome to our opponents 1ST TEAM: £5 ADULTS Winsford United. Witton Albion, 1947 SILSDEN SATURDAY 2ND NOVEMBER 2013 3pm ko Previous Leagues: Cheshire County League; Northern Premier League HWinsford United have a long and proud history, having been formed way back in 1883. In those early days, the club was called Over Wanderers and ABBEY HEY competed in the Welsh Combination Football League. After a few seasons, the club changed to its present name and its present ground - Barton Stadium - SATURDAY 16TH NOVEMBER 2013 3PM KO although it was called Great Western Playing Field at the outset. The club brought on many good players during this period and after losing several players to Football League clubs, they experienced a somewhat unsuccessful spell that resulted in the club folding. United reformed in 1913, thanks in the main to the then secretary, Mr W H Burning, but it was short lived as World War One broke out. After the cessation of hostilities, United regrouped with a new committee headed by Mr R G Barton (hence Barton Stadium) and the club became a founder member of the Cheshire League, winning the Championship in its second season. That was to be one of the few successes as the Blues struggled to survive both on and off the field. During the War, Barton Stadium was almost stripped bare to aid the war effort. After the war, United became a Limited company and the 1950s saw the Blues win the Cheshire League Cup three times and a Cheshire Senior Cup victory. In the 60s and early 70s the Blues returned to struggling ways with only a rare FA Cup First Round appearance at Peterborough to shout about. United lost the game 4-1. That match acted as a springboard and, under John Williams, Winsford United hit the glory trail. Between 1976 and 1980, the Blues won the Cheshire League title in 1976/77, were runners-up in 1979/80 and set a new record (which still stands) by winning the League Cup four seasons out of five, including a hat-trick of wins (1977/79/80/81).
