Previous meetings • This is the sides' first fixture in UEFA competition and Chornomorets' first encounter with Croatian opponents. • Dinamo are on more familiar territory having played eight previous games against Ukrainian sides, though the results have not been encouraging – W0 D2 L6 (W0 D1 L3 at home). • No Croatian club has defeated a Ukrainian counterpart in the last ten encounters (W0 D2 L8) since HNK Hajduk Split beat FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in the 1985/86 UEFA Cup third round. Match background • Dinamo have yet to make it through the group stage of this competition in five attempts. Their record in 12 UEFA Cup and UEFA Europa League group stage home games to date is W3 D3 L6. • Dinamo lost their first five games in last season's UEFA Champions League group stage but were spared a point- less campaign by a 1-1 draw at home against FC Dynamo Kyiv in their final fixture. They had drawn a blank in 2011/12, losing all six of their UEFA Champions League Group D games. • This is Chornomorets's first UEFA group stage campaign. The game against Dinamo will be their seventh since entering the competition in the second qualifying round; their longest previous European campaign was a six-game voyage to the second round of the 1995/96 UEFA Cup. • Chornomorets have won only one of their last 11 European away fixtures, 2-0 at FC Shakhtyor Soligorsk in the second round of the 2007 UEFA Intertoto Cup. Team facts • Dinamo are one of nine domestic champions in this season's group stage along with NK Maribor (Slovenia), FC Sheriff (Moldova), Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC (Israel), PFC Ludogorets Razgrad (Bulgaria), Legia Warszawa (Poland), FC Shakhter Karagandy (Kazakhstan), APOEL FC (Cyprus) and IF Elfsborg (Sweden). • Chornomorets' Brazilian defender Anderson Miniero and Dinamo's Moroccan forward El Arbi Hillel were team-mates at Portuguese side Vitória SC in 2011/12. • Dinamo right-back Jerko Leko has experience of Ukrainian football, having first left his current club for FC Dynamo Kyiv for what was a club record €4m in 2002. He won two league titles and three Ukrainian Cups with Dynamo before moving on to AS Monaco FC in 2006. Coach information • Miroslav Blažević's assistant when Croatia unexpectedly finished third at the 1998 FIFA World Cup, Branko Ivanković returned to begin a third spell in charge of Dinamo in early September having led the club to a domestic double in 2007. The former NK Varteks player coached Hannover 96 for a while, and spent four years in charge of Iran prior to club appointments in China, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. • Chornomorets coach since November 2010, Roman Grygorchuk was a successful striker in his native Ukraine, also playing in Austria, Poland and Russia before going from the pitch to the bench in Latvia. He won three Latvian titles as FK Ventspils coach but then opted to return to Ukraine. In Odessa he won promotion to the top division in his first season in charge, while a sixth-placed finish in 2012/13 opened the door to Europe. 3 GNK Dinamo Zagreb - FC Chornomorets Odesa Thursday 19 September 2013 - 19.00CET, (19.00 local time) Match press kit Stadion Maksimir, Zagreb Team facts GNK Dinamo Zagreb Formed: 1911 Nickname: Modri (Blues) UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • None Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) League title: 19 (2013) Yugoslavian/Croatian Cup: 19 (2012) Ten-year European record (UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League unless indicated otherwise) 2012/13: UEFA Champions League group stage 2011/12: UEFA Champions League group stage 2010/11: group stage (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2009/10: group stage (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2008/09: group stage (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2007/08: group stage (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2006/07: first round (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2005/06: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2004/05: group stage 2003/04: second round (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 6-0 twice, most recently v Zalaegerszegi TE 19/09/02, UEFA Cup first round first leg • Biggest away win 0-5 twice, most recently v Grasshopper Club 30/09/97, UEFA Cup first round second leg • Heaviest home defeat 1-7: Dinamo Zagreb v Olympique Lyonnais 08/12/11, UEFA Champions League group stage • Heaviest away defeat 6-2: Real Madrid CF v Dinamo Zagreb 22/11/11, UEFA Champions League group stage 4-0 on four occasions, most recently v Paris Saint-Germain FC 06/11/12, UEFA Champions League group stage UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League • Biggest home win 6-0: Dinamo Zagreb v Zalaegerszegi TE (see above) • Biggest away win 0-5: Grasshopper Club v Dinamo Zagreb (see above) • Heaviest home defeat 0-3: Dinamo Zagreb v Fulham FC 31/10/02, UEFA Cup second round first leg • Heaviest away defeat 4-0: Tottenham Hotspur FC v Dinamo Zagreb (see above) FC Chornomorets Odesa Formed: 1936 Nickname: Moryaki (The Sailors) UEFA club competition honours • None Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) Ukrainian Cup: 2 (1994) 4 GNK Dinamo Zagreb - FC Chornomorets Odesa Thursday 19 September 2013 - 19.00CET, (19.00 local time) Match press kit Stadion Maksimir, Zagreb Ten-year record (UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League unless indicated otherwise) 2012/13: did not take part in UEFA competition 2011/12: did not take part in UEFA competition 2010/11: did not take part in UEFA competition 2009/10: did not take part in UEFA competition 2008/09: did not take part in UEFA competition 2007/08: UEFA Intertoto Cup second round 2006/07: first round 2005/06: did not take part in UEFA competition 2004/05: did not take part in UEFA competition 2003/04: did not take part in UEFA competition Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 7-1: Chornomorets v FC Vaduz 02/09/92, UEFA Cup Winners' Cup preliminary round second leg • Biggest away win 0-5: FC Vaduz v Chornomorets 19/08/92, UEFA Cup Winners' Cup preliminary round first leg • Heaviest home defeat 0-3: Chornomorets v Olympiacos FC 30/09/92, UEFA Cup Winners' Cup first round second leg • Heaviest away defeat 4-0: RC Lens v Chornomorets 01/11/95, UEFA Cup second round second leg UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League • Biggest home win 3-1 twice, most recently v FK Crvena zvezda 01/08/13, third qualifying round first leg 2-0 twice, most recently v FC Dacia Chisinau 18/07/13, second qualifying round first leg • Biggest away win 2-5: Hibernians FC v Chornomorets 08/08/95, preliminary round first leg • Heaviest home defeat 0-2: Chornomorets v PSV Eindhoven 03/10/13, group stage • Heaviest away defeat 4-0: RC Lens v Chornomorets (see above) 5 GNK Dinamo Zagreb - FC Chornomorets Odesa Thursday 19 September 2013 - 19.00CET, (19.00 local time) Match press kit Stadion Maksimir, Zagreb Squad list GNK Dinamo Zagreb Current season All-time UCL Tournament League Tournament UEFA No.
